Chapter 19

I go in with Jose and head back to the piano and start to play. This time I play one of my mother's favorite songs. It is called lean on me; I started to sing this one, I love this song.

'Sometimes in our lives

We all have pain, we all have sorrow,

But if we are wise

We know that there is always tomorrow.

Lean on me when you're not strong,

And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on.

For it won't be long,

Till I'm gonna need somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride,

If I have things, you need to borrow.

For no one can fill.

Those of your needs that you won't let show

You just call on me brother when you need a hand.

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you understand.

We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me

When you're not strong

I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long till I'm gonna need somebody to lean on

You just call on me brother

When you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear

That you can't carry

I'm right up the road

I'll share your load

If you just call me

Call me

If you need a friend

Call me, call me

If you need a friend

Call me, call me.'

Charley and Cameron walk in the living room. Charley asks, "Where did you learn that song from?"

"It was my mom's favorite song. She taught me how to play the piano with that song."

Alpha Cameron says, "That is a beautiful song. So is your voice."

"My mom told me that if people did like this song there wouldn't be anyone lonely and scared. So, I try to do it, sometimes that is hard, but I try. My mom was like that until that man came and took her from me. The song let me make it through, the beta and Eric didn't make it. They got lost and I can't get them back. When mom left, I lost all of them. But I'm lucky, now I got a Charley, and a new pack that they might like me."

"That you do, we are here for you," Charley gives her a side hug.

I get up and head to the door. "We have to go if I am going to get what I need for tomorrow."

"Well, then let's go little one I don't want you up late and tired for your first day of school."

We did our shopping, and it was getting late, pizza was dinner which made me very happy. When we finally got home, we both went to our rooms and took care of our clothes and the stuff we bought earlier that day. Before I go to sleep there is a knock on the door. "Are you excited about tomorrow little one?"

"I am nervous, but I think things are going to be so much better here. Jose seemed nice and he said I would fit in and that sounds great. These clothes you got me today are so beautiful I can't thank you enough."

"I am glad you like them. If for some reason you have problems, you come tell me and I'll straighten it out."

"I promise. See you in the morning good night." I went to bed that night with the actual hope my life was going to get better.

Melody is so excited about school, she is up by six, runs down makes breakfast for her and Charley, then runs up and gets dressed. She cleans up the mess and leaves the food for Charley.

As she is going out the door Charley yells to her. "Where are you going so early?"

"I have to meet Jose at seven thirty at the pack house. Your breakfast is on the counter in the warring tray, I will see you after school, bye."

She is at the pack house in ten minutes, a little early for meeting Jose. She goes to the piano and starts playing softly. Jose comes down the steps in to greet her. "That's a nice way to start the day. Let's get moving. We don't want to be late."

When they get to school all the kids say Hi to Jose, he introduces Melody to everyone. "Hey guys this is Melody, she is the one you heard play the piano yesterday."

Some of the kids that stay at the pack house came over and to talk to her. "Hi I have always wanted to play the piano could you show me how? My name is Juniper."

"I would like that let me get settled in and then we can figure out a time."

The kids at school came up and talked to her and were nice to her, not one of them gave her a hard time. She had a great day. On their way home three other kids that live at the pack house with Jose walked home with them. "I'll see you guys tomorrow bye." Once they say goodbye, she heads over to Charley's house feeling so content, excited to tell Charley about her day. "Charley, where are you?"

"Up here, come see what I did." She enters the room to see Charley sitting with a guitar in his lap pretending to play it. He looks so cute. "What do you think little one, you like it?"

"This is for me, all of this? You shouldn't have done this; it is so much money."

"Little one you are so worth it." Her eyes are as bright as the stars in the sky. "Come play for me."

She takes the guitar and starts to tune it. Then plays a Mexican song she had heard a long time ago called La Paloma. The sound of the music and the look on her face makes Charley smile from ear to ear.

"That song was beautiful. Come look at the rest of them. There is a violin, a flute, and a piano of course."

"This was so kind of you, I don't know what to say." She walks around touching each one of them.

"You have missed something." Charley teases. Melody looks around, then sees it, a mandolin, and a clarinet. "You said your mom wanted you to learn as many of them as you could, so you now have six and a teacher that will come two days a week to show you how to play them."

Tears are running down her face. "I am so very happy." All she can do is wrap her arms around his neck and hug him. "This is one of the best days of my life, the kids at school like me, I am making friends Charley. I have never had so many class mate want to talk to me I love this school."

Jose has gotten close to her and Bethany. Bethany is so much like Bonnie, she misses her. Bethany I have to run home for a minute then I will meet you at the pack house Unless you want to come to my place."

"I think your place would be better. I go get changed and a snack before I come over for my first lesson on the piano."
