Chapter 43

The two week wait for her mother was agonizing for Melody, it was going so slow. "We are on the road and should be there sometime in the late afternoon, unless Frank decides to take a break and sleep at a hotel again."

"I am so excited for you to get here. Your rooms are all ready. I turned the one guest room into a princess castle for my little sister."

"You didn't have to do that; you are so sweet."

"You and Frank will have the room next to hers, so she won't be scared."

"All she has been talking about are the twins, she wants to play with them."

"Talking about playing I hope you know Anthony and Papa Charley are taking Frank with them to play cards. It has become a weekly thing."

"I know, Frank has done nothing but talk about taking the others to the cleaners, whatever that means." Both of them were talking like they never separated, that was until Hailey started crying.

The next day Frank was pulling into the driveway, Laurie was out of the car before the car even slowed down. Frank had a fit. "Calm down woman. What do you want to do kill yourself? Damn! Woman the car wasn't even near stopping."

"Hush, you old grouch. I wanted to hold my girl." Melody was being squeezed so hard she could barely breathe.

Laurie couldn't get enough of the twins; she spent the whole rest of the day with them. The sweetest thing was watching Carley with the twins. She was told she is their only aunt; she went nuts wanting them to listen to her, she was in charge.

Poor Anthony was taking care of a problem with the pack, he couldn't be there most of the afternoon. The phone was ringing and Melody read the name. "I have to get this it is my mate. Hi baby. Are you coming home?"

"That is why I am calling; I am going to be a while longer. You and the rest of them should have dinner without me I will be there as soon as I can."

"We could wait for you, I don't want you to be left out."

"I can grab a sandwich here the rest of you shouldn't go hungry because they are waiting for me."

"You know I love you." Melody hung up the phone disappointed. "Anthony is running late, he said we should start dinner without him. He will catch up as soon as he can."

Just as they sat down to eat dinner the dang phone started to ring again, "Hello, Stephan, it is nice to hear from you."

"You haven't called me to tell me what instrument you want to play."

"I chose the cello. Why do you want me to play another instrument. I mean six is a very large number of instruments to play. Wait I am going to put you on speaker."

"Melody, it is simple, you are a musical prodigy, we have had other prodigies over the years. The most recent is a young man from Germany. He played five instruments; I met him he is conceded and thinks too highly of himself. I want you to outdo him and put him in his place. That is why I want you to play the sixth instrument."

"I will give it my best shot, but I am not making any promises."

Laurie hears the conversation. "I told you that you were a prodigy. We have to go shopping and buy you a cello soon."

Over the next week the twins were spoiled, even worse having another pair of grandparents. On top of that they started to say 'gam mom' and 'gam pop.' It wasn't perfect but you couldn't tell the grandparents that.

"Mom, are you ready? We have to get moving if we are going to make it back in time to make dinner."

"I am ready. I have a favor to ask, when we are done buying the cello I want to stop at a toy store. I want to buy a present for the twins and Carley while we are out."
