Chapter 45

Melody 'is thinking about how wonderful life is and how much being with her mother has made it even better.

"What are you thinking about? You look like you are off in your own little world."

"I was thinking how things have changed with my mom here; it has gotten better."

"I like your mom she is special. It is like she is mothering all of us and we are grown." Anthony chuckles. "How are the hospital rounds going? You're pregnancy is getting further along, and I don't want you to wear yourself out."

"The rounds at the hospital are long and hard, including having to take the last two classes, but I am handling it."

"I know next year you finish your internship. How is that going to work?"

In September the classes end. I was to start my internship to finish my third year and last year of training. "If it all went well in May, I would be a doctor. The pups are due in September, so they are letting me do seven weeks of the internship now in the summer and finish up after I have the pups. You better go or you will be late."

"If this gets to be too much for you, we can put it off and have you finish up a few months later. I truly don't want you stressing out about things." He gives Melody a kiss. "Love you I will see you tonight."

Melody is running to another meeting. "Papa Charley, you have the twins for about an hour and then Mom is coming to get them. The nanny is out, it's her day off."

"Fine I got them they are in the back yard playing." I don't know how I would make it through this without them helping me. Grandparents and my nanny are the best.

"Thanks Papa Charley you are the best." Working at the hospital is amazing, even with the long hours as an intern. The few that are sick are usually from something that we can't cure. Things like cancer or degenerative bone disease. They are becoming more frequent than they used to be. A lot of doctors are blaming it on the humans and all the chemicals they are putting in the grounds.

Today I get to see one of my favorite patients she is a very sweet woman. "Good morning Mrs. Jones, how are you doing today?"

"Much better, the medicine seems to be working." She is a woman in her forties, she has lung cancer. I am healing her a little at a time, this makes it look like the treatment is working. I just need to be very careful not to let her or anyone else see the light from my hands. By the time I am done the seven weeks of working here she should be cured.

"Mr. Carter, I'm sorry I am calling to let you know I am going to be late for the lesson this afternoon. About thirty minutes if you can come then. You are a doll, see you later." Music is going well, the cello is not a hard instrument to play. The strings are a lot like the violin, the bowing is quite different indeed. Holding this instrument is not going to work soon, my belly is going to get in the way.

Time is moving fast; I am so busy that it is the end of August already. My phone rings and it is Anthony. "Hi baby."

"Melody, I am calling to remind you about your prenatal appointment today."

"I remembered, thank the goddess my classes and internship finish today I am tired."

"Try to take it easy, I will pick you up and take you." Right on time he is there. I can always count on Anthony he is the best mate a girl could have.

"Let me help you in the car. I will drop you off at home when you are done with the doctors. Unfortunately, I need to go back to the office and finish up some paperwork."

"That's fine you have to do what you have to do." I give him a supportive smile; I never want to take him for granted he is too special.

The doctor is a good man he is always bright and happy. "Luna how do you feel today?"

"A little tired but good. This belly is getting harder to maneuver with."

"That is to be expected with only four weeks left of your pregnancy. I am a tad concerned about your size myself, even for twins you a larger than I would expect. Well, the monitor says all is good they have a strong heartbeat and they are a good size, I will keep an eye on you and see you back next week."

My next visit was in the morning and Anthony had to leave the pack to handle some project, so mom is coming with me. "Luna it is time you go back to bed rest you are starting to dilate."

Mom sounds a little worried. "Are the babies alright?"

"They are fine. There is nothing to worry about, we want to keep them inside safe and sound as long as we can."

"I had to do this last time too don't worry it will be fine, mom."

When I get home, I go to my room I want to take a little nap, I am tired. Anthony came in our room he was very upset to say the least. "Melody why didn't you tell me you had a doctor's appointment?"

"You have been so busy working I didn't want to bother you. I am sorry I meant well."

"I don't care how busy you think I am, I will always make time for you and the babies."

You told me that you were working extra hard so you could stay home with me at the end of the pregnancy. I liked the idea and wanted to make sure it happened."

"I understand, but I want to be there for you."

"You are always here for me and the twins. How about you get Hailey and Wyatt so we can play with them for a while."

The following morning, I woke up to a lot of noise. I see Anthony in the hall. "Anthony you are still home?"

"We are moving you downstair today Uncle Charley is helping me and Branden." You stay in bed and rest but we are going to be noisy for a while."

An hour later I am in the new room. "Melody is that all the stuff you need, in the bedroom. I think I got it all."

"If not we can get it later Anthony." My pups are due in two weeks, and I am as big as a house. I don't walk anymore; I waddle and even that is hard. The stairs and I are not on speaking terms, they're just too hard to go up and down right now.

"I like we are now staying in the room next to Papa Charley on the main floor. When I am not here he can hear you if you need him."

"I like it too now I can check on her more often." Charley ruffles my hair making me fuss at him.

"I hate when the two of you gang up on me."

"Uncle Charley what would you think if I made this an office for me after we move back into our room. It would enable me to work from home more often."

"Should be fine it is empty most of the time."
