I look at my mother, "Explain last night. I was too upset to understand what you said."

"We went to the Alpha to explain what happened. He gave me permission to leave with Frank to go to his pack and set a home up for us. He even made a remark that it would be nice for us to have a little time alone before we brought kids into it."

"Alpha Kevin, he said that and didn't try to have you stay and help out the pack? I mean we didn't have a Luna at the time."

"He was fine with it, at least that is what I thought. So, we went to Frank's pack so I could meet and talk to his Alpha and set up a home for the three of us. You were coming with me. When I came back four days later the guards stopped me at the gate, Frank was at the hotel waiting for me.

"I didn't understand what was going on. "The guards had boxes there waiting for me. I told them that I had to get you, but they said I wasn't allowed in, that all of my stuff was in these few boxes. I called Frank to tell him what was happening. He said he'd be there shortly. He had to drive there obviously, and I had our car, so he had to get a taxi.

"I loaded the boxes into the car and the guards said I had to leave the gate. I told them that I was outside the gate, I was waiting. They told me that if I didn't leave, I would go to the dungeons. I told them that I had all rights to stand on this ground that they were still my pack."

Anthony asks, "You hadn't pledged to the other pack or sign the transfer papers?"

"No, nothing. I was coming back for Melody and to finish the paperwork. The guards walked over, all four of them, they took turns beating on me. When Frank got there, I was unconscious, he told me that they were still kicking me. He went ape shit crazy and got me out of there, I don't know how. I woke up two months later in a hospital. Frank's Alpha called Alpha Kevin, but he refused to even acknowledge him. It almost caused a war."

"I remember that, Alpha Kevin is one of our allies and called us for help." Anthony said.

"I went to the werewolf council, but they told me there was nothing I could do because I hadn't filed the papers and Michael already did. He said I abandoned him and you both. I had no way to get to you. I wanted to, my heart was broken. I almost left Frank to beg to come back to Michael to get to you."

"Dad would have taken you back, he loved you."

"Michael was mean, meaner than anything I have ever seen. He told me if I came back, he would take me back, but I couldn't be his wife or your mother. I would be a slave in the pack and if I was lucky, I would be able to see you once in a while, but I couldn't talk to you. I was going to do that, but Frank stopped me."

"He did this to us, he kept you away. He did it to get even with you and took it out on me."

"I was waiting for you to grow to somehow get to you. When I saw you at Hughes's house playing, I wanted to come up to you then and there, though it didn't seem like the right time. When you left, I asked Hughes if you were going to play for him all the time. He told me he was going to have you play at certain concerts and if I wanted, he would let me know. He didn't know that I was your mother. That's how I got here. Frank is here with me, but I didn't want to bring him up until I talked to you."

Half in tears, "How do I know you are telling the truth?"

Laurie reaches in her bag and hands me a raggedy doll covered in musical notes. "I had all your stuff packed and brought it with me to the new house. You had a room."

Seeing the doll made me cry, "I didn't know where she went. I couldn't find her after you left."

"Look," Laurie shows me the scars on the back of her neck from where they had beat her. "I really did want you. I'm so sorry that I failed you."

Crying I put my head into my mother's lap, "I missed you, Mama."

"I've missed you too. Goddess, I wish I could have been there."

There is another knock at the door. Anthony is happy for the interruption, hoping it would relieve some of the tension in the room. Kody answered the door and called, "Breakfast is here."

"I ordered breakfast for the three of us. Thinking you would be here." Anthony says as they set the food on the table. The three of us sit and enjoy breakfast as we talk and catch up. The tension between us was much less but it felt odd talking to her, like she was a stranger that I knew.

"You said 'what they did to you. What did they do to you?"

"It is a long story, it started when I was eleven, and got worse as I got older. Dad told everyone I was like you a runner and then he started hitting me, Eric joined in. Then the pack started to follow what they did. Bonnie's mom Phoebe, if it were not for her help and Bonnie's friendship, I might not be here. The rest I will tell you another time." After hearing the story, Laurie tightens her grip around her glass and almost breaks it. "What about you mom? Are you happy?"

"Frank is the best, him and I have a little girl, her name is Carley. She is waiting with Frank, in our room downstairs, room 515."

Anthony smiles, "We have a daughter and a son. They are a year old."

Laurie smiles excitedly, "I have grand pups! That's great news."

Antony held my hand like he was asking me something. I nodded yes to him. "I think Melody would like you to meet them."

"Oh goddess, I would love that, and I want you to meet Frank and Carley."

"I know Frank. He is the retired beta of a pack that had been allies with us since I was born. Kody, go to room 515 and tell Frank to come up with his daughter."

Kody looked at Anthony. Is it the Frank I am thinking about?"

"Yep, it has been a while." Kody got a grin; they were Betas together and had been friends for quite a while."

When Frank enters the room, Anthony shakes hands with him like they were old friends.

"I have watched this boy grow." Frank says smiling. He then walks over to shake hands with me, "You play beautifully." Carley is hiding behind Frank's leg, a little nervous around all these new people.

Laurie kneels down to Carley and says, "This is your big sister, Melody."

I join my mother kneeling on the floor by Carley and begin to tickle her. The room is soon filled with the sounds of Carley's giggles. "I always wanted a little sister, and you are so cute." She smiles at Melody, "I like your smile too."

"We are going to be here for the next two days if you can stay, we could visit."

"That is a good idea, Anthony. We would love to spend time with you while we are here."

"I have one more idea, we would love for you all to come home with us to meet the twins, Wyatt and Hailey." Anthony smiles. "I have one request of you though. Do not tell anyone about Melody. We are trying to keep her safe and the less people that know she is here the better."

"I'll contact our Alpha to get permission to come to your pack. I will tell him that he can't say anything to keep Melody safe. After what happened in the past he would understand."

"Thanks, Frank. If Drew finds me, I will be in trouble."

"You're going to tell me why sometime soon aren't you?" Laurie asks.

Anthony calls his dad and Uncle Charley, "Melody found her mother, they are coming back with us. Her mate is Frank the beta from the Sunshine pack. "

You can hear how happy Charley is that I found her. "That is wonderful news, she always talks about her, I know she misses her. Frank being her mate is a bonus."

We spent the rest of the day together at the park letting Carley run and play. Then we went to dinner together. "Mom, this had been a great day, I will see you in the morning, I am glad you are back in my life."

"I love you baby girl, and I am so happy to have you back in my life."
