Chapter 63

Melody stops in the opening to the living room looking at Michael. "I have to go to the hospital to do my rounds. I don't have the time to talk to you, you and Anthony set up something."

Bonnie looks at Michael with hatred in her eyes, "You don't deserve to talk to her. You don't deserve to be anywhere near her. She may let you slide with what you did, but I won't."

"I'm your beta," Michael says. "Don't talk to me like that!"

"I don't belong to that pack anymore and I will talk to you anyway I see fit." She then places both hands on the back of Melody's shoulders and walks her out the door. Anthony has the two betas go with Melody and Bonnie while the rest of them stay with Michael.

Branden runs up to Melody and stops abruptly. He sniffs the air. Bonnie lets go of Melody's shoulders spins her head to the side sniffing also. They both lock eyes with each other. "Mate." Melody turns around and smiles seeing that her best friend has finally found her mate.

"Why don't the two of you go and talk? Kody will go with me to the hospital."

Branden abruptly stands with his shoulders squared as if he was in for a fight. "Luna, I will not leave you. My Luna is my responsibility, I will not have you unprotected." He grins, "I will just bring my love with me." Bonnie looks all shy and flushes.

Once at the hospital Melody calls Stephen about the concert. "You want to do a concert for me in California?"

"Yes, around San Jose if we can."

"I will have it all set up in one week in San Jose, California. This is not one of mine you still owe me one more concert agreed."

"One more concert is what I owe you if you are a good boy it might even be two. Thank you for all your help."

"I am the one that has to thank you, I cannot wait to hear you play."

As she did her rounds Bonnie and Branden are making eyes at each other and holding hands. Kody tells them, "You need a room." This has Bonnie blushing again.

Cameron has gotten up with Marten, "Anthony Marten said he would love to come along with his wife, to hear Melody play would be a highlight to their outing."

This whole time Michael is sitting in the living room waiting for someone to tell him what they have planned. Papa Charley is talking with Frank about everyday things when Cameron comes in and tells them it was a go on his end, not wanting to let Michael know that the councilman was coming.

Michael decides to talk to the others, "I am curious how did my daughter get here?"

They each stare at him then Papa Charley speaks up, "I brought her here. She came to me as I was driving truck at one of the truck stops and asked for a ride."

"You just give random girls a ride for no reason?"

"She looked so scared and so alone I couldn't leave her there. It took two days to get her to tell me her story, and it took four hours for her to stop crying from all the pain you and your pack gave her. How could anyone do what you did to her?"

"You only heard her side. You don't know ours." Michael is being defensive.

"Then tell us how a ten-year-old needed that kind of treatment." Cameron spits the words out in anger.

"When her mother left, we did not have a Luna, she was our Luna for all purposes. Then she decides to leave. She left us high and dry, then wanted to take my kids. Do you think I would let that happen? She never stopped crying for her mother, all she did is talk about that bitch. So, I lost it in all the pain I was in."

Frank growls at him for calling his mate a bitch. "That is my mate watch your mouth."

"After a while the Alpha set her up in the basement to get her away from me and stop grieving for her mother. I was not in my right frame of mind."

Papa Charley sounds off, "So that gave you the right to break her leg and her arms twice, not to mention all the bruises? Oh yes, the way you choked her so she could not talk for what was it six weeks?"

"You lose the one you love and see how you react."

"Don't you tell me about loss. I lost my wife and child and never once did I treat a person like that for eight years. You were grieving that much, tell me why you didn't treat your son like that?" Frank states.

"You will never understand, forget it." Just as the yelling was over Melody and the other three came in. Seeing all the tension in the room, she asks the men to come outside with her, leaving Kody and Branden and Bonnie to watch her father.

Once outside she tells them, "Stephen can set up the concert in a week. It will be in San Jose, forty minutes away from the pack. Is that a good distance from them?"

"That should be fine. It won't take us too long to get there and to get back. The plan is coming together. I'll have dad set up the hotel now so we can have the top floor."

After all the talking is done, Anthony says, "Let's send him on his way, and we could go have a nice peaceful dinner."

Looking anxious Melody nervously says, "I'd like to talk to him first. I know what he's done, and I know he's probably never going to be the father I'd like him to be. I'd still like to know if he has changed enough to be a father at all."

"You have thirty minutes, then he's leaving. That's all I can tolerate."

Papa Charley grumbles, "I'll go to the house to get dinner ready."

Melody nods her head in approval, then walks in the pack house followed by everyone else. Sitting on the couch next to Michael on an angle so she can look right at him, "Are you done being angry at me?"

Michael lowers his head acting like he regretted what he done, "I'm not angry at anyone anymore. I would just like to meet my grand pups, spend some time with you, be a part of your family. I know I threw my family away a long time ago, I just want a chance to get it back."

"In small steps, if you prove that is what you want, then it can happen. I will bring you to the house so you can see the pups, but then you will have to go back to your pack and get things arranged. We will be there in a week to help Alpha Kevin."

Anthony is staring at Melody with daggers in his eyes. He does not want this man around his pups, or around his mate any longer. Though he doesn't say anything just walks over, puts his arm around her waist and holds her tight. Whispering in her ear, "That's not what I said."

She mind links back, "I know, but I have to give him a chance." The hope of having her father back shows in her eyes as she reaches up and kisses him. Anthony returns the kiss, this one having more passion in it. Michael has a disgusted look that he hides from the rest of them in the room.

Bonnie jokingly says, "Uh, if I can't do that, neither can you."

Melody teases , "You have a mate now, why don't you?"

Branden grins, "Woo Hoo." He then bends Bonnie backward and kisses her just as passionately as Anthony kissed Melody.

Cameron throws his hands up, "That's enough of this. I don't have anyone to go home to. Let's go get some dinner."

Frank walks up and whispers, "Melody, I don't know if your mother should be there."

Melody whispers back, " Shit I didn't think of that. Mind link her and ask her if she is alright with him coming."

Within seconds they get their answer, "That's fine. I'll just kick the shit out of the bastard."
