Chapter 97

Melody has been home for two days. Anthony, as much as he doesn't want to, is spending a lot of time in the office catching up on the paperwork he didn't do while he was gone. Charley spends time in her room watching over Melody. He sits in a chair next to her and starts dozing off. He hears somebody whispering his name. As he looks up he sees his wife, "Hope?"

"Hello, Charley. I've been watching you. You need to go find yourself a mate. You should not live your life alone."

"I'm not alone. I have a family, my little one is laying here in this bed."

Hope smiles at him, "You are a wonderful father to her. You would have been a wonderful father to our little girl. The Moon Goddess has sent me down to talk to you. Only you can save Melody. It will be your choice to save Melody or to bring back our daughter to you. Their fate is in your hands."

"She wants me to choose between a daughter that I have never raised, but loved, and a daughter not of my blood but that I love more than I could ever think possible. How could the moon goddess be so cruel?"

Hope doesn't say a word, only looks at him, then reaches out to stroke his cheek. "You don't have much time." All of a sudden Melody's machine starts to beep funny.

"I will never forgive the moon goddess for this. How? How could she do this to me?"

"Hurry, Charley. Hurry."

Charley looks at Hope, "Hope, you have our daughter up there with you. I want to keep Melody, she has so much to offer this world and she loves me, I want her here with me." The machine levels out and starts sounding normal again.

Hope, with a very calm expression says, "You will receive a mate in the next week. She will give you, our daughter. The moon Goddess wanted to see if you would save her child, which would help the wolf world or your own. Your heart was true, the love you hold for her is true. Be happy, Charley. Take care of our little girl." Hope fades away. Melody starts to wake up.

Charley automatically mind links Anthony, "She's waking up!"

Anthony rushes to her side, "Melody, you've come back to me." Melody reaches up to touch his cheek, then pulls him down to kiss him. "I've missed you so much. The pups are waiting for you."

She tries to sit up, but Anthony won't let her. "I have been resting long enough. It's time for me to get up."

"Just give it a little time. Don't push yourself."

"Where is Papa Charley? I need to see him."

"I'm right here little one." Tears rolling down his face.

"The moon goddess told me you saved me, one more time. I have no words to tell you how much I love you."

"Little one, I love you more than life itself."

Anthony happily mind links their special family telling them she is awake. Then he mind links the pack that is overjoyed at her recovery.

"Melody, I have brought you a very special visitor." Luarie says.

"I have the other special visitor with me." Bonnie smiles as her and Laurie walk in with the twin boys in their arms.

Anthony brings the rest of the pups in with him. "Don't jump on mommy she is still got boo-boos, so no jostling mommy, not yet anyway." After a half hour Melody seems tired, "Mommy is tired kids, let's let her get some rest." Anthony is trying to coax the kids to leave.

"Come with grandmom and I will get you some milk and cookies. I will be back as soon as the pups are settled. I want my new family to come say hi to you."

"Papa Charley, can I talk to you a minute."

"Off course, Little One."

"I know what you did, I don't know how to tell you this, but I met your daughter. She is lovely, and happy that you are her father. She asked me to tell you not to worry she will see you soon. I truly love you papa; you are a gift that I so adore and love. Thank you for loving me." Melody hugs him as if it was the last hug she would ever get.

A week has gone by, everyone is at the hospital. Kody and Amanda had twin girls. "They are perfect Amanda I am so happy for you and Kody. With everything that happened you didn't get your baby shower. So, after you get home expect to have one. We have it all planned out."

A tall woman walks in Amanda's room. "Mom, you made it."

"You don't think I would miss seeing my granddaughters."

"Melody, I would like you to meet my mother, Evangeline. Mom this is my best friend and the Luna of the pack."

"You are beautiful and look so young to be Amanda's mother."

"My mate was much older than me. He found me when I was fourteen and we married when I turned fifteen and had Amanda. Amanda did the same thing and had her pups at 16, I was a young grandmom."

"Amanda told us how much you have helped her and what a wonderful mother you are. I am glad to meet you."

Charley walks in to congratulate Kody on his babies, when he smells the air, he looks around the room. In the corner he sees Evangeline. The same that happens to every mated wolf they say Mate at the same time.

Charley walks over to introduce himself, "Hello, I'm Charley."

"I'm Evangeline." She is blushing at her age. This makes Charley smile.

"Would you care to have a cup of coffee and get to know each other a little better."

"That would be nice." They start talking as they walk out of the room.

"Tell me a little about yourself."

"First, I never thought I would find a second chance mate when my husband and two-month-old son died in a rogue attack."

"My condolences, it is not easy losing a mate and a child."

"Being eighteen with a little one was hard, it has been me and Amanda since she was three. She is the only reason I made it through the grief of losing them."

"I know how it is to lose someone you love. My wife died in childbirth over eighteen years ago. Hope and our baby girl both died that day."

"You had no one, how did you survive?"

"It wasn't easy, I was all alone until Melody came into my life. She is not legally mine, but she is my daughter in every way, most of all in my heart. She is also, Amanda's best friend."

"She told me, she never made friends easily. That was until she came here."

Six months later, Charley runs into the house, "I'm getting married to Evangeline. She is Pregnant." The room erupts in cheers and good wishes.

"You are not moving out are you, Papa Charley?"

"Not again, we need a bigger house." Laughter is heard throughout the room.

"Well, little brother it looks like you and I are going to be sitting up nights together. Christine is pregnant." The two of them fist bump each other. "See that we aren't to old yet."

"Dad congratulations, I am getting a little brother."

"It might be a girl."

"You wouldn't do that to me."
