Chapter 61

When everyone went home, I went to bed and dreamed of the times when my father hurt me and mistreated me. I was tossing and turning, then woke up screaming out in my sleep. "Stop I am sorry."

Anthony ran in the room and held me trying to calm me. "I'm here, you're safe, I am not going anywhere."

"Anthony, how did you get here?"

"I couldn't stand to be away from you, so we left as soon as the meeting was over." Melody wrapped her arms around him and held on like her life depended on it.

"I'm here I won't leave you." He picks me up lays me in the middle of the bed with his arms wrapped around me, he held me all night.

In the morning, I woke up still in his arms. The handsome man I was so lucky to have in my life. I was so blessed to have him, so happy he was given to me by the moon goddess. Anthony opened his eyes to seeing me watching him sleep. "Good morning beautiful. How is my beautiful wife this morning?"

"Good morning husband. It is so nice to have you home." Then I started to kiss him, then run my hand down his chest, telling him without words what I wanted. An hour later we came out of our room dressed and ready to face the day.

Cameron came to the front door, "I need to talk to you both. Remember the phone call last night, well we had them check to see if someone was out there. They found claw marks and footprints twenty-five feet from the gate. Anyone that close could hear what was said."

Anthony, not knowing what was going on asks, "What are you talking about?"

"Bonnie has come to join our pack and stay around me."

"The Bonnie from the old pack?" Anthony asks.

"The one and only."

"What is this about someone listening to what conversation?"

"Baby, I have to go to work, let dad explain it to you." I need to get to the hospital. Passing the pack house on the way, Bonnie is sitting on the front porch.

"Hey girl what you up to today?"

"Just sitting here. A little bored."

"How would like to help at the hospital? I work with cancer patients. We are thinking of opening up a cancer wing."

"That would be nice, do you need help at the hospital?"

"We always need help at the rate we keep taking in patients from other packs. The hospital had around twenty people in the cancer ward and another fifteen in the recovery ward, most of them were cancer patients. We do have a few that have injuries from accidents or from training too hard."

Bonnie looked around at the way this place was set up, "This is amazing. You have such a well-equipped hospital. How do you afford all of this?"

"We don't charge for our treatment of the members of other packs, a lot of them make donations of equipment, or other supplies. The council has also set up an allotment for the hospital. They like what we are doing and want to help. I have helped some of their members or their family members. We have become quite well known in a short period of time."

"Well, if you need me, I am more than willing to help you."

"I will talk to the head of the hospital on your behalf. Come make rounds with me, then we'll go home and have lunch."

"I am going to your mother's for lunch."

"I will join you she won't mind."

Anthony comes to the hospital to see me. He wants to discuss what his father told him about Bonnie and the people outside the pack. I'm just about done my rounds when Anthony sees me. Then he catches Bonnie walking with me, he's not sure if he trusts her all the way. His father thinks she is a good person and that they can trust her. But when it comes to me, he is always going to be a little overprotective.

"Anthony, why are you here?"

"I wanted to see my mate. I wanted to talk to her about security. From now on you will have two guards following you everywhere, even in the hospital."

"I can't have them in the hospital. That's not going to work. Anthony, have you met Bonnie yet?"

"Don't change subjects, Melody. Hello, Bonnie. We're going to get security for you whether you like it or not."

Bonnie steps in, "Melody, I know what they think at that pack. They are not nice people. You need security, because no one should trust them."

"You're supposed to be my friend and stand with me. Not HIM."

"That's why I am your friend, I want you safe. If he is right, then he is right. Listen to him."

I turn toward Anthony, "Fine. But they don't come in the patient's room they stand outside the door."

Anthony reaches down to put his arm around me, "I think having Bonnie here is going to help." I slap him playfully.

Bonnie is looking at her hands, fiddling with them. "Alpha Anthony, I know you don't know me well, but I would like to become a member of your pack. I miss my best friend, and I want to stay here where I get to see her."

Anthony acts like he is thinking hard about her question, "I can't see why we can't make you a member. I think it will make Melody as happy as it will make you."

"One more thing, Alpha Anthony, I want to do it as soon as possible. When I was in the other pack, they Alpha ordered me, and I had no choice but to rat her out. That's how they found you were in Texas. I'm so sorry Mel, I couldn't help it. No matter how hard I tried to fight it. I wasn't stronger than the Alpha." Bonnie's expression was full of regret, "I let you down."

"I understand. It's fine. You have too many good things you have done for me to worry about me holding that against you."

"We can do it today in the office, right after lunch." We proceed to walk back to the house talking about our plans at the hospital, just enjoying each other's company.

After Lunch Bonnie walks me back to the hospital. "I can see why you are so happy. You finally got the family and mate you always wanted and deserve."

"I am lucky he is mine. It will be your turn soon."

"I don't know when it happens it happens. Until then I will have some fun."
