Chapter 12

That night I didn't sleep well, "I did the right thing or did I? Once I get her a house and set things up for her, she will be so happy. Wait and see, I'll make it right." The next morning, I felt like my body was all achy and sore. That's what happens when you don't sleep. Eric came to the office; he looked as bad as me.

"I need some food," Eric says.

"I'm with you." When we get to the kitchen there is no one cooking, and it is empty.

Eric grumbles, "Melody isn't here, she does all the cooking. We'll have to go downstairs to the pack house kitchen."

"I will settle for cereal. I don't want to deal with people yet. This feeling is like" he pauses. I can't explain I feel like my soul is broken and I can't fix it."

"It will pass with time. I hate cereal, Drew. Let's get some real food."

"I know cereal is boring, but I don't have time. I have to find her a house close enough for me to have her around, but not in the way."

"Use the pack layout, it has all the houses on it."

"Where is the layout of the pack grounds?"

"They're over here in the filing cabinet."

"Good. I want to find her a house, somewhere she will be happy."

"I don't know why you're worried, she is not hard to please, she likes anything."

"Look at this place. It is near the lake, all by itself with what looks like a garden. What do you think, Eric?"

"Let's go look at it. See what we got to do to get it ready."

"This place is in great shape; it needs some furniture and a piano. Eric, why does Mel want a piano?"

"Man, have you ever heard her play. I might not trust her, but that girl can play that thing, like nobody's business. Mom said she was a musical prodigy. She took my guitar when she was seven and started playing it like she did it all her life. There is a piano in the pack house, she would sneak out there when she thought no one was around and play, The pack would sneak out to listen to her play."

"When she comes back maybe she will play for me?" Drew seems happy with what he has planned.

"Maybe, she will." Eric is looking around the house. "It's really a shame you can't trust her."

"We could bring the piano from the pack house out here for her. I will get a few of the guys to help me with it and set the place up now."

"I'll go get you some omegas to get the towels and little stuff to make it a home. They can dust the place and clean it up."

"Thanks Eric." By the end of the day the place had furniture and was looking like a real home.

"It has been a long day, Eric, I am going to bed. What time does the bus come tomorrow?"

"Around twelve."

"When are our dads coming home?"

"About eleven."

The morning is horrible, still no sleep, my wolf is no help, he keeps howling in my head. I'm not getting up. Just too tired. Knocking on the door makes me groan. "Who is it and what the hell do you want?"

"It's me Eric, our dads will be home in an hour we got to talk to them. Get ready."

These have been the worst two days of my life. Friday was out of this world with Melody, every touch made me feel alive and loved. That's a feeling I'll never get over, she'll be home in three hours. My wolf has been mad that I left her behind. He wants to keep her safe.
