Chapter 28

Drew is discouraged not finding Melody. "This is crazy how did she get all the way to Texas?"

"We are heading home. The plan is to get permission from the packs to search the pack lands and see if she is there."

"Dad by the time I get back she might take off again and then what do we do?"

"I don't think she stayed in Texas, she was passing through and that it is a long shot going back. But it is a shot." We will contact packs all over and send pictures out we will find her she can't just up and disappear."

They got home and the next day Drew was ready to leave. "Dad, I got some things packed and we're ready to leave. Eric is coming to get me."

"I want you to get a few things done here first. This place is a mess right now. You haven't been home a day."

"Dad I am running out of time she is more important. We showed the picture to the two closest packs but there are four more in the area and two more further north. It won't take that long and I will be back fast I promise."

"It will take time to contact the packs and I am sending them pictures, if she is there, they will tell me. You going can wait a few days."

"I can't blame dad when we got home the pack was having a fit, not one of us realized how much she was helping the pack. "Alpha, you have to do something about the tutoring program, Melody did all the scheduling and organizing we need someone to take over."

"I will hire someone to handle it, just give me a few days we did not know the program existed."

"Alpha Keven, this is the orphanage calling. We have a problem. The children are asking for Melody, and I don't know what to tell them and we really need her help. Can you tell me when she will be back?"

"Tell them that she is helping another pack right now and will be back soon. Then I will get someone to work at the orphanage as soon as I can."

"Dad, I need to get my laundry done and Melody isn't here. Who is going to take over for her? And we need someone to cook and clean too."

"Get the hell off your ass and find someone to do the job. NOW! This mess is all your damn fault."

The phone rings as he is steaming over the mess he is looking at and his stupid son is whining at him. "Yes, council."

"The allotment is ready, and you should receive it in the next three days. Thank you for participating."

"Thank you for letting us participate." Alpha Kevin hangs up and screams. "I want you, Drew, bring Eric and his dad to my office right this minute."

"Yes alpha." All three stand looking at him and know there is a big problem.

Kevin is glaring at them. "Do you see this mess. I have three celebrations coming up and according to my secretary Melody has organized all our ceremonies for the last three years. Did any of you know that? On top of that I just got a call from the werewolf council. They said that we were getting an allotment for a food program. Something about free lunches and breakfast for the schools. I have to give them the numbers for our last count. Can any of you tell me that? Micheal you are the one that set it up, why didn't you tell me, also what is this about setting up a school program allowing under privileged kids to get scholar ships."

"Melody!" comes from all three of their mouths.

"Find out what she did and get it to me asap, they will be here in three days."

"Check her room, Eric. There has to be paperwork somewhere."

"On it Dad."

"This is giving me a headache. We really dropped the ball and I didn't even know it." Alpha Kevin is holding his head in his hands with his elbows on his desk.

I'm sorry she did all this Alpha I will deal with her when we find her."

"Micheal what are you talking about, deal with her. She did your job and mine how are you going to deal with her. You are a fucking idiot."

Eric comes in with an arm full of papers. She has things all arranged he set then on the alpha's desk. "I found the schedule she set up and the people she planned on hiring to run it."

Alpha Kevin went through the papers. She has everything scheduled and organize for the next three months. I didn't know she could draw, she has pictures of how the celebrations are to be done. Look at this, it is you're alpha ceremony on paper."

Micheal looked over his shoulder seeing the activities she had set up. "The lady at the school said she was going to act like a Luna till we got one. She sure was."

The secretary knocked on the door. "Alpha, we need help for the upcoming full moon run, Melody usually organizes it and as you know she isn't here."

"I'll get back to you shortly. Micheal look through her papers, and locate her schedule for the full moon run."

After shuffling the papers he picks one out. "This is it she has it scheduled for the next three full moons."

"That at least gives us time to figure it all out. Organize all those papers and see what she had planned for the rest of this month, then take the other papers and hire people she has scheduled to run them. Last find someone to take her place with organizing all the pack activities."

"I will get on it, If it is alright I will take Eric with me and he can learn how to take charge of being the beta."

"From what I have just seen he has some big shoes to fill."

Three days has gone by and the head aches haven't stopped yet. "Drew, get in here now!" That's my dad, Alpha Kevin. He is yelling at me all the time anymore.

When I walk in the door his eyes are black with anger. "What is it dad?"

"You are not leaving until you get help at the orphanage, she called back again. I can't deal with all her complaining about us losing Melody. Tell me how they know we lost her."

"I don't know dad. They always find things out."

"Beta Michael is taking charge of the food program, he doesn't want to, but the hell with it he is going to. Can you tell me how none of us knew what was going on in our own pack."

"I was away for two years so I had no idea."

"That is a shitten excuse. You came home in between classes. Get the orphanage together then head out."

"What do you want me to do?"

"Hire someone to work at the orphanage. I'll take care of the other one's complaining. That should get her off my back."

Eric walks to the door and stops. Then looks over his shoulder at his dad. "Hey dad tell me the truth, will this emptiness I am feeling, will it ever go away?"

Alpha Kevin looks at his son, the anger is gone all he feels is sympathy. "I don't know son. I hope so for your sake it does. Maybe once we find her."

"Yeah, when we find her." Drew walks out of the office on his way to the orphanage to get them some help.
