Chapter 30

Drew is discouraged not finding Melody. "This is crazy how did she get all the way to Texas and so fast?"

"We are heading home. We have permission to search the packs in the area, now we have to schedule times. She may be hiding in one of them."

"Me leaving with you Dad is a bad idea. By the time I get back she might have taken off again and then what do we do?"

"I don't think she stayed in Texas; she must have been passing through. Going back is a long shot, but it is a shot. Who knows you might get a lead."

"She left the state faster than I thought she could. Her being this far from home is hard to believe."

"We will contact packs further out and send pictures to them. Son, she can't disappear in thin air we will find her."

That night they landed back home. The pack was in an uproar. Alpha Kevin was bombarded by members wanting answers he didn't have.

The next morning Drew got up planning on leaving as soon as he was packed. "Dad, I packed for a week, it shouldn't take much longer to check out the other packs. Eric is almost done packing we can leave in about an hour."

"You are not leaving me to handle this mess alone. This place is a complete disaster. I am giving a list of things that need to be done before you take one step out of this pack."

"You have to be kidding me. I am running out of time; she is more important right now. We showed the picture to the two closest packs, the other four might have seen her or know about her. It won't take me that long I promise."

"We haven't set up times yet, it will take a day or two to get that done. I am sending them pictures of her, if they have seen her, they will tell me. You can wait a few days to leave."

He couldn't blame his father. When they got home the pack was having a fit, not one of them realized how much she was helping. "Alpha, you have to do something about the tutoring program. Melody did all the scheduling and organizing we need someone to take over until she gets back."

"I will hire someone to handle it, just give me a few days I didn't know about the program."

"You signed off on the paperwork." Now Alpha Kevin was at a loss for words.

"I will handle it!" He yelled so loud in the phone the woman on the other end dropped her phone.

Another call came into his office. "Hello, Alpha Kevin."

"Alpha, this is Mrs. Walters from the orphanage. The children are asking about Melody, I don't know what to tell them. I would also like to know when she is coming back. We really need her help."

"Tell them she is helping another pack right now and will be back soon. As for you needing help, I will get someone to help out as soon as I can."

"I am telling you she was a miracle worker and will be hard to replace. Whoever you send has to like kids or they won't fit in."

"Yes, I will make sure." He hung up the phone slamming on his desk tired of hearing about Melody.

Drew came in the office. "I need to get my laundry done and Melody isn't here. So what is the plan? We are going to need a cook and someone to clean this place too."

"Get the hell off your ass and find someone to do the job. NOW! This mess is all your damn fault."

Drew took off out of the office as the phone rang again. "This is his mess, and he has the nerve to whine to me to fix it." Alpha Kevin was talking to himself he was so mad. He looked at his phone dreading who was calling. When he saw it was the council, he felt relieved. She couldn't have gotten him in trouble with them. "Yes, councilman."
