Chapter 22

The door opens, "Well, old man I'm home." He turns his head and sees Charley. "Hey, Uncle Charley, it's nice to see you." Both men reach out a hand to Anthony. "What do you call this?" Anthony walks over to hug his father, patting his back. Then he walks over to Charley, "I didn't expect to see you, Uncle Charley. When did you get home?"

Shaking Anthony's hand Charley smiles, "How have you been nephew?"

"Another one I haven't seen you in years give me a hug. I'm fine, glad to be home finally. Have you come back to stay this time or is this a rest stop on the way to your next stop?"

"I am here to stay. Your old man talked me into staying home. I think he is retiring and wants a fishing buddy."

"I think that is a wonderful idea. I might even get to sneak out with the two of you from time to time."

"I'm going to head out and let you two talk. We will catch up more later." Charley opens the door, and the sound of Melody playing the piano filled the room.

"Who is that?" Anthony asks, mesmerized by the sweet harmony.

Cameron puts his hand on Anthony's shoulder, "That's your uncle's best friend, Melody."

"Well, now Uncle Charley got himself a new lady?"

"Well, I wish it was." Charley says a little embarrassed.

"No, she's a very special young lady. You want to meet her?"

"Yeah, I'd love to meet her." The three of them walk out to the living room where Melody is sitting at the piano playing. They stop at the opening to the living room. Anthony starts to sniff the air, looks around to find the source of the smell, he spots Melody.

Suddenly Anthony says, "Mate." Cameron and Charley turn to look at him.

Melody stops playing the piano. As she turns around, she sees Anthony in the opening. Both of their eyes meet, and they know. She returns the same single word, "Mate."

"How can that be?" Cameron asks. "Are you sure she is your mate?"

Anthony looks at his father weirdly, "What do you mean? I know she is my mate."

"We need to have a long talk. All four of us."

"Little one, come here." Melody walks over hesitantly, not sure what is going on. Charley puts his arm around Melody. "This is my daughter." Melody looks up at Charley, you can see how much she loves him it is written on her face. Just like his love for her is written on his.

"Wait a minute! You got a kid?" Anthony can't conceal the shock from his face or voice. "This can't be happening I am not mated to my cousin."

Charley puts his hand up, "No, no, no! It's not what you think. She found me and I have taken her in."

With a sigh of relief Anthony says, "Oh, I got it. What a relief."

"We should take this to the office. Bethany, head on up to your room. You can finish your lesson later."

"Yes Alpha. Bethany give Melody a warm look knowing this is not going to be an easy meeting. "Melody if you need to talk I will be in my room."

Melody stands there looking at the man who is to love her in complete fear. "He is not going to want me and I have to go through that again. Moon Goddess this is not fair."

Harmony talks calmly to her. "Trust in the bond. The moon goddess will fix what went wrong trust her."

"That is a little hard to do after last time." Melody walks behind Charley almost hiding, she whispers. "I don't want to go in there." Charley can feel her body shaking. "You talk to him. Then you can tell me what he decides."

Charley hugs her close, hoping it helps her "You can go home, or you can go up with Bethany. I'll call you when it's all done."

"Ok, I'm going home." Melody never takes her eyes off Anthony. She backs out of the room. "Harmony he is the future Alpha just like last time. Do you think Charley will come with me after her tells me to get out?"

"You don't know he is going to through you out."

"Yes I do I am not good enough. I can't ask Charley to come with me, it's not fair to him this is his pack his home." If we leave we can make it on our own. Charley should stay with his pack. I don't think mate is going to reject us."

"It is better if we go now without telling him he would leave with me even if I tell him to stay." She has made a decision and goes to the place she calls her home to start packing her stuff.

Cameron sits in his chair behind the desk as the other two take a seat in front of him. "What the hell is going on? You didn't even let me say hello to her."

"That's Melody."

"You said that already."

"Anthony this would go faster and easier if you would calm down and let me talk to you."

"Your father is right Anthony, you have to understand what is going on before you jump into anything."

"I am listening to Uncle Charley I just want to see her."

"Melody has a story that comes with her. You need to understand what has happened to her first." Charley looks at Anthony with compassion in his eyes, almost a silent plea not to reject her.

"I'm not going to like this am I."

"Son, I think you should hear the whole story. We'll go from there with whatever you decide. First of all, I want you to know that I like Melody. She is kind and sweet, in the three weeks she has been here she has become friends with most of the pack members, like she has always been here. She fits in this pack perfectly."
