Chapter 69

Drew stands up abruptly, "Dinner is ready." Then walks toward the dining room.

They are sitting talking and enjoying each others company, Drew is quietly watching this. He watches Melody feed Wyatt, and thinks that's his son, his pride and joy, and she stole him. He whispers to Eric, "I would like them to stay so I can spend more time with them."

"Just ask them, Drew."

"Would you like to stay here for the next few days, until you are done with my father's treatment?"

"I'm sorry, we can't do that. Melody has a concert tomorrow night." Pride is showing on Anthony's face.

Eric looks over to Melody, "You're still playing the piano?"

"Eric, tell me, don't you have enough manners to say hello to your mother? She is sitting right across from you."

Eric is confused as he asks, "What are you talking about?"

"You don't recognize me do you son?"

"My mother didn't look like that. Are you trying to tell me YOU are my mother? Why didn't I recognize you?"

"Maybe because I am happy, and not walking around sad?" Eric gets up to leave the table, shoving his chair back abruptly.

"Alpha Drew, will you be accompanying all of us to Melody's concert tomorrow? Why don't you bring your beta with you."

"That sounds nice Alpha Cameron. I will be looking forward to it. What time?"

"The doors open at seven don't they, Amanda?"

"They start seating then and the concert itself starts at eight."

As soon as dinner is done, they all decide to go back to the hotel it has been a long day. They are all settled in for a quiet night. "Dinner went well. You can see Drew is not very happy."

"I don't care if he is happy. He sees what he rejected an I loved so it is his own fault. I love you let's get some sleep,"

Over at the Skyline Pack it is a different story, Eric went looking for his father. "Dad, did you know she brought that bitch here?"

"You mean your mother?"

"How could she do that? She doesn't look the same, Dad. I couldn't even recognize her."

"She looks the same as she did when I married her. She looks like she has gotten her color back, the joy is back in her eyes."

"I'm so mad right now, I don't know what to do. How do you accept somebody back that just took off on you and abandoned you? Especially after they have been gone so long?"

"I don't know, Son. All I know is that I still love her even now. When I see her all I think about is taking her in my arms and holding her. Does that mean I'm not mad at her? No. Do I still want to beat the shit out of her for leaving? Yes. But I still love her."

At the hospital, Drew enters his father's room. "Hey, Dad. How are you doing? You feel any better?"

"Look at this, Drew." Kevin lifts his arms up then sits up in bed for the first time in months.

Drew walks over to hug his father, "I'm so glad it's working, Dad."

"After everything we have done to her, she still came to help me."

"Yeah, right dad." Kevin looks at him shocked by his attitude. "I can't help it. I watch her with him, and it hurts. She belongs here with me, not with him. Is it bad that I want her back? Is it bad that I'm going to get her back, whether she wants to come or not?"

"Son, you can't do that. You sent her away, she has the right to have her happiness. You are going to have to find yours somewhere else."

"I didn't send her away. I told her I'd give her a house and a place to stay. She wouldn't have to worry about anything. I would have taken care of her. I just didn't want her to be my Luna."

"Son, you can't expect her to just be your whore. That's not wanting her, that's using her. If you would have given her a chance, look at what she turned out to be."

"So, I made a mistake. Does that mean I can't get a second chance? I can't be happy."

"I'm sorry, son, I don't know what to tell you other than to pick up your pieces and start over."

Not wanting to argue with his father Drew gets up. "I'm tired I'm going to bed. I'll talk to you tomorrow."

It's Saturday afternoon and they are practicing before the concert, Amanda is standing backstage with Melody. The two of them were playing their violins together, like they have been practicing. They were playing two different songs and blending the melodies together. Stephen hears the music and comes up on stage to find out who is playing.

"I knew it had to be you." Both women stop playing.

"Is there something wrong? We're just practicing."

"Can the two of you do that tonight on the stage? Just like you did it now?"

"Yes, it's just our warmup song though."

"If that is a warmup song I can't wait to hear your real songs."

Amanda suggests, "Why don't we play the one where you sing?"

Stephen turns to look at Melody, because he has heard her sing once before. Melody looking over to Amanda, "Why did you say that?"

"Because you sound beautiful. Come on sing with me."

Melody shakes her head feeling defeated. and says, "Start." With that Amanda starts to play her violin. Melody starts singing with her amazing soprano voice. The music is so beautiful that it brings a tear to Stephen's eye.

"How long have you been practicing this?"

Both girls look at him, "A week."

"You are going to do this tonight for the concert. First you will play the violins then Amanda you will play and Melody you will sing." The whole time his hands are going a mile a minute, waving, pointing he is to excited.

"So, I won't be playing the piano tonight?"

"What no, no!" There goes his hand again. "You are going to play the piano also, you play that like an angel. The next concert will be only you. There will be the orchestra to back you up, but you will be the featured soloist."

"Stephen, I owe you one more concert. Don't make me play by myself."

Stephen is pouting, "No, no, no. You listen to me." Amanda and Melody start laughing together as they watch him storming off in a huff.

The concert is about to start, the front row is filled with Melody's family and friends. Drew is there along with Eric and Michael. "I didn't think they would come."

Amanda looks at Mel. "You got this. They don't matter."
