The rain had thankfully stopped on my way to the restaurant, leaving behind pools of water filling the creaveses along the streets. It gave the earth a wet, reflecting glow that surprisingly made me happy. Everything was new, clean and wonderful it as if the world was giving me a brand new sparkeling beginning; I think thats just what I needed.
Seeing on my gps that the resturant was only four blocks from work I decided to take advantage of the free parking there.
Pulling into the below level lot was eerie, the familiar deserted feeling came over me once again the same feeling I had had when all of this started. Being in the office and even in this parking lot at the varying times this weekend gave me a new perspective. Before everything happened here I felt safe, comfortable and at ease but now I felt oddly tense.
I had a weird feeling someone was watching me, yet looking around the empty lot there was no one to be found.
Is this how going to work is going to feel all the time now? I sure hope not.
After leaving the underground parking and heading onto the above ground sidewalk I felt increasingly better, the air giving me a new sense of release. After looking at the clock on my phone I saw that I was 20 minutes early for our "date" so I decided to just walk around and enjoy the city for awhile.
The flats I decided to wear weren't anywhere near waterproof and within seconds my toes were numb from the water still lingering on the pavement. I didn't mind though, being numb wasn't always a bad thing right?
Though I have worked in this area for almost six years now, I never really took the time to really take in the surroundings. The buildings surrounding me towered to heights I could barely fathom and especially at this angle they amazed me. At work I see the city at a birds eye view unable to clearly see the people walking below but now being a part of this, it really felt incredible. The rain left a permeable smell behind and I relished again in its freshness.
With a smile I decided to head to the restaurant and face Phil once again, this time protected from both of our lustful actions with the happy customers that will surround us.

Do I make an excuse to leave? Do I just bail with no explination?
Thankfully I didn't have to do either as my coworkers overseas insisted they must go.
"Everyone knows what needs to be finished tonight right?" I ask the four men surrounding the glass table.
I recieve several nods.
"Good, I will be leaving for the night and will be back in the morning. Order dinner if any of you are hungry. On me." I say as I slap one one-hundred dollar bill on the table.
Without looking back I grab my coat from my office and practically run to the elevator trying my best to be on time for her.
