KATE
Though Phil had now been home for nearly two hours tears still continuously ran over my cheeks.
"It's okay." He repeated for the 20th time. "I'm home, I'm safe." He said as I lay in his arms.
Derek had volunteered to cook everyone dinner and Alex had offered to help, giving Phil an I some much needed time alone.
"I was so...." I heaved and sobbed barely able to catch my breath. "I thought.... "
"Kate there's no need to talk now. I am right here and I won't leave your side, not for a minute." He said to me gently wisking away a few falling tears.
He kissed my cheek softly and hugged me so close I thought we could just melt into each other, but then he let go.
He stood up and I couldn't help but follow his every movement with my tear filled eyes.
"I'm just making a phone call." He said as he dipped his hand into his pocket but came up empty.
He patted himself down turning over every pocket before he or I realized that his phone was in a ditch somewhere and not where it usually was.
"Here use mine." I say pointing to my phone that lie face down on the glass side table.
Derek and Alex came in with table trays each holding two plates of food, one for each of us as Phil paced through the living room waiting to get off hold.
They sit down on the couch opposite me as we all couldn't help but watch Phil as he made his call.
"That's correct. Yes. Yes. I could do that. Yes. Just meet me there." He said finally hanging up.
"Honey, I know this isn't the best time. But..." He said placing my phone back down.
"I understand, but I need to come too." I said wiping away my tears quickly and pushing away the wrinkles from my shirt.
"Honey, someone needs to be with Nora." He said looking in her rooms direction.
"We can watch her." Alex said as she looked at Derek who nodded in agreement. "You guys need to hurry. Go. Go."
And we were gone.
KATE
Even though I could literally feel his fingers encased in mine I couldn't help but quiver in my seat. The hard uncomfortable plastic chair causing me to twist and turn trying my best to relax.
"So you're saying you were kidnapped?" The bored officer stated as he chewed his gum like a cow chewing week old cud.
"Yes! My girlfriend here, " Phil said pointing to me, "called officers to our home and spoke with them, said they would be trying their hardest to find me."
The officer gave me a sour look as if I was one of his criminals that he was just waiting to break.
Though the officer stated that we weren't in fact in an interrogation room, I knew it was a lie. The room felt like a metal and concrete tomb meant to put fear into those that have "allegedly" done something illegal, but that wasn't us.
As Phil continued to explain the events that had occured I couldn't help but cry, softly and silently.
He squeezed my hand gently, trying his best to be reassuring and comforting but I just couldn't help but to feel nervous and worried.
"Have you ever seen any of these men before?" The officer asked now seemingly more interested in the case.
"Like I said no, I just recognized the voice of the man "in charge"." He said looking to the officers notepad, watching as the man wrote.
