KATE
He had finally seen me, five months, three weeks and two days later. Could he tell I was pregnant, if so, did he assume it was his?
"Hi, ah Phil." I say almost mumbling, while simultaneously trying my best to slowly pull my purse in front of my ever expanding stomach.
"Kate." He says in a whisper. He didn't need to speak another word, his eyes spoke for him. First they flashed to mine then instantly flashed down to where my purse now rested.
I couldn't help but tear up. With my hormones running rampant, my work load as much as ever and now him seeing me, like this, it became all too much for me to handle.
Without thinking I half spun in place and headed straight for the front doors as more tears welled up in ny eyes.
My vision quickly became cloudy as the tears ran over my cheeks.
It wasn't until I was heading through the doors that I noticed he had started following me.
PHIL
I had almost placed her completely out of my mind, almost. Lately it was only during times of stress, and an occasional elevator ride, that I was reminded of her. I had even made it a point to avoid that particular elevator, but at times that hadn't mattered. There were soft, sweet moments that crept slowly into my mind, moments where she was there in my arms, in her bed, laying beside me.
And now here she was, only now it wasn't a dream or a sexualized fantasy, it was really her.
As soon as I had laid my eyes on her I could tell she was pregnant. Her face was slightly bloated, as was her hips, breasts and thighs. Her skin was splotchy and pale, her eyes blackened and tired. I had seen it all before.
I couldn't help but to just whisper her name. I was in utter shock! Then as if I didn't even exist, she just walked away from me. Her and her child, my child, our child. Following her was now my only option.
