Three Months Later
KATE

"Are you going to be able to work today?" He asked me from the kitchen as he poured us both some OJ.

"Yeah, if not a full day at least a half day." I said grabbing my purse from the hallway table then trying my best to take a seat at the table.

"Hey, you know what I told you." He says with a smile as he hands me my juice.

"I just feel wierd eating in the living room, everything just looks so nice I wouldn't want to ruin anything. " I say carefully drinking from the cup then gently setting it down on the glass dining room table.

"But you shouldn't feel worried, its furniture, it can be cleaned." He says trying to be reassuring.

"How does it not bother you though, everything just looks like it belongs in a magazine and not in someones house." I say finishing off my glass.

"Well I'm not one of those people born with the gift of design, honestly most of this was all her." He says looking around first the dining room and through into the living area then taking a seat beside me with a smile.

"You know we don't have to leave here, it really is a nice place." I say almost feeling awkward, because I knew it was a lie, at least partially.

"I know, and that makes me want to leave all that much more. I need to move on and we deserve a fresh start right?" He asks now taking one of his hands in mine and the other now rubbing circles on my belly.

He was right, we did deserve a fresh start. We deserved to make a home together. We deserved to move into a new house together.
"You won't have to lift a finger, well maybe one." He says taking his hand in mine and kissing my slightly chubby fingertips.

Then I saw his eyes catch on a stack of boxes lining the walls, TREVOR, written on the sides. I could tell there were some days that were harder on him than others, though he would never talk about them. He misses his son and, at least to me, it was obvious.

Though he had often worked 50 or even 60 hour weeks before, now it was closer to 30. It probably would be more but he insists on a lot of things, none of which I mind.

He said he wanted to do things right this time, yeah cause knocking up a complete stranger in the elevator was so right, but I think we have both moved past that.

He says he wants to come to baby's appointments, classes and go baby shopping with me, even though I had insisted what he bought earlier would he fine.

---

"No, we need to get things we both agree on." He had said what now seems like so long ago. "We need to make these descisions together, we are a team now."

---

"You almost ready to go?" He asks me standing from the table and offering me his hands.

I grab both of them and try my best to stand up from my chair with his assistance, just two more weeks to go then she will be here.
