Feeling Completely Frazzled

PHIL

With everything happening at once I couldn't help but feel frazzled and exhausted. I felt like I was being torn in two different, or rather six directions. Kate. House. Baby. Job. Kate. Movers. Bills.

Today we were supposed to move into our new house just after I proposed to her in the exact place we met, then after a week or two she would have our sweet little baby girl. Everything would be ready and waiting for them to come home.

But none of that was happening..

I proposed and she seemed happy, but also nervous or something. I showed her the house of her dreams and instead of having the grand tour she almost goes into labor on the front lawn. And now there are movers crawling over every inch of my house moving all of my possessions from one place to another.

Everything was happening. Happening too quickly.
But she is ok.
The baby is ok.
I am ok.

I help Kate breathe through the contractions not telling her that the deep breathing is benefiting me as well.

ALEX

"I'm at the address you sent me, are you sure this is right?" Derek texted me.

"Yep just come on in." I text him back after spotting his car parked behind the movers trucks.

"There you are." He said after he finally walking through the open front doors.

"Here I am." I say with a smile.

"So did you need my help or something?" He asked looking around the now nearly empty home.

"Well, not with this part." I say with a bright natural smile. "Phil, my friend's boyfriend, hired movers, but him and Kate are at the hospital."

"Are they--?"

"Oh no they are fine. My friend Kate is having her baby earlier than she expected." I say walking over to him and kissing his cheek. "Though I would like to be at the hospital with her, she asked me to help organize her things at their new house so it will be ready for her and the baby when they want to come home. "

"So what your saying is right now you're not doing anything." He says sliding his arms around me and holding me against him, a sexy, mischievous smile over his lips.

"You could say that." I say with a wink.

Then his lips were on mine, right there as we stood in the middle of the foyer. His strong hands ran smoothly up and down my back, sending goosebumps down my spine. They they moved to my hair pulling it oh so gently.

I couldn't help but let my tongue mesh with his softly.

Then he stopped.

When I heard steps behind me I figured out why. Guess he doesn't mind making out in open areas as long as no one can see.

DEREK

I wish I hadn't opened my eyes for that split second. I wish I hadn't seen her name written in black sharpie on the side of the brown box, Erica's Things.

It wasn't even a thought in my mind until that moment that this is where Erica had lived.

I felt bad having to stop the kiss with Alex but it was if my mind went to a grinding hault.

"You ok?" She asked me hugging me close to her.

"Yeah, I'm, ah, fine. You mind if you get some more privacy and not make out right where the movers need to be?" I ask her without even thinking through the words.

"Sure, that's fine." She said almost too gleefully.

A weird part of me wanted to see the rest of the house. I had envisioned this house so many times from what little Erica had told me but it was nothing compared to this.

Why am I thinking about Erica? Why does it matter? She doesn't matter anymore, at least not to me.

Without really even paying attention Alex pulled me into a bedroom and closed the door behind us.

"This enough privacy for you?" She teased.

I didn't nod or say anything I just quickly moved to her and started kissing her frantically. I started to pull at the bottom of her shirt and she happily removed it for me.

Here I am making out with a beautiful nice woman, one that isn't married or off limits or anything and I still couldn't stop myself from thinking about Erica.
