With a summer set time of only ten past two, Maple did as her insistent Uncle suggested, she got dressed. Fixing her dark curls just right and dabbing a little perfume behind her ears, Maple put on her best Sunday dress and prepared to leave that little cabin in the backyard. After Uncle Jeffy fixed all the doors and windows back, of course.

Stepping out on that clear summer's day, as the heat still pounded down, Maple took a deep breath in and left the rose covered cabin and headed towards the front yard of her parents home. It was where Uncle Jeffy was already patiently waiting...

Seeing Maple come from behind the corner of the house, Uncle Jeffy slid out of his truck, to open Maple's side of the door...

"Madge?"

"Yeah?"

"You feelin alright?"

"Don't I look alright?" Maple nervously replied.

"Honestly?"

"Honestly..."

"Well darlin.. the dress is beautiful... but..."

"But whut?"

"You kinda lookin green behind the gills." Uncle Jeffy smirked.

"Nice." Maple frowned.

Maple began to do a one eighty and go right back to her cabin. But uncle Jeffy cut her off before she could leave the driveway.

"I'm kiddin Madge." Uncle Jeffy grinned. "You look beautiful." He said kissing her on the cheek.

"I don't like you rat naw uncle Jeffy." Maple scowled.

"Lighten up, darlin." He said with a wink. "You ready ta do this?"

"No!" Maple skittishly blurted. "And naw that you mention it, I do kinda feel a pale shade of green."

"Uh huh." Uncle Jeffy uttered with a simpered smile. "I won't let you get away that easily."

Uncle Jeffy in a very gentlemanly manner opened the truck door for Maple to get in.

"Okay wait!" Maple said timidly backing away. "Let's jest thank bout this for a minute..."

"Maple?"

"Whut?"

"Get in the dang truck."

"But Uncle Jeffy..."

"Get!" Uncle Jeffy ordered.

Uncle Jeffy held onto the outside of the passenger's door shooing an extremely nervous Maple to get in. Maple gulped so loud, even the birds flew the coop. But after some hesitation, she climbed in.

"Do I have to rig this door?" Uncle Jeffy teasingly said leaning in on the truck window.

"Yes." Maple said without hesitation.

She said that knowing she may attempt to jump out of a moving vehicle. Just to avoid getting on the open road and heading north to see Tator. Course Uncle Jeffy gave her the eyes of contempt with his deep blue eyes. But just as he was about to walk around to his side. He stopped and thought for a second. Sure enough he rigged that door shut!

Uncle Jeffy got back in the truck to take off down the driveway, just as he did, Maple uttered...

"You know I was kiddin bout the doe."

"Were ya now?" Uncle Jeffy said looking into his niece's suspicious eyes. "Cause I don't thank you were." He said looking back to pull out. "But we'll neva know naw. Will we?" He said with a smile and a wink.
