Sometimes, life gives you disappointments, pains and struggles you wish you didn't have to face. As most of us know, they like to call it a part of existence. Heartbreaking... don't you think?

As you can believe, a way beyond frantic Maple, was in just that kind of predicament. In that sudden realization, Maple returned to Kaitlyns Grove just on the edge of Ponchas Row Avenue, to search up and down the grounds and into the woods for her beloved brooch! She even dragged an exhausted Josephine and a wide eyed lovey dovey Leslie Anne along... But sadly, for her, it was to no avail. The brooch was gone...

Maple was inconsolable... her life was flipped upside down. After all she and her family had been through, especially her Mama, to get the brooch back into their possession and free of Mrs. Crowder's wrath... it was gone. Just like that! And it was no one's fault, but Maple. And Maple's alone. Or so she desperately convinced herself.

MAPLE: "If onlay I didn't decide to wear it out in the open for all to see. Even boast at crabby ole Crowder's expense, the brooch would still be home! Safe with me!"

Maple cried a river for several days... She was beyond the depths of eternal despair. No one, not even Mama Woods could console her... For a time it seemed like Maple went to a dark place of downright melancholy...

Eventually, time passed. The sun set. And the sun rose. Before they knew it another year had passed... But not a day went by that Maple didn't search or yearn for her long lost brooch....

Before all knew it, Maple was no longer in her years of adolescence. On her twentieth year, a few days after mind you... Maple stood in the church chapel with her sisters by her side. Not to mention an exceptionally jittery Cornelia Pumpkin Lee...

"Oh Lawdy!" An anxious and trembling Cornelia spoke.

"Landsakes alive, Cornelia! Why yo face is jest as pale as a pig's rump!" Annelle said fanning her future aunt to be. "And ew if yo hands ain't clammy!" She fussed quickly pulling away.

"Are they?" She replied wiping her hands on her robe. "I swear the world is spinnin!" Cornelia replied nearly falling over.

"Breathe woman!" Beth Anne chuckled as she catered to a flushed Cornelia! "Maple Joelle, make yo self useful and get Cornelia a glass of water would ya?"

But Maple didn't reply...

"Glory alive Maple Joelle! For once would you get out of yo stupor and help Cornelia!"

"Course..." Maple said shaking herself awake.

"I swear that girl, does like ta daydream." Annelle fussed roiling her eyes.

"Prolly jest thankin bout that darn brooch again." Beth Anne mumbled.

"All she eva thanks about." Annelle grumbled.

"I'm sorry Cornelia..." Maple apologized.

"Think nuthin of it." Cornelia winked. "I thank you are jest as flushed as me." Cornelia tittered. "Woo.." she said taking the glass from Maple's hand. "It's not like we ain't been plannin for this day for the past two years." She said chugging the water down.

"Slow down!" Beth Anne and Annelle cackled!

"Sides this is the easy part." Annelle said trying to take the rollers out of Cornelia's reddish brown hair.

"Is it?" Cornelia trembled.

"Why course. All you gotta do is say, "I do."

Cornelia glowed at the thought. Catching her breath she managed to gain her balance...
