Chapter 11: Parents
Brielle's POV
*Two Weeks Later*
Andy and I have been constantly hanging out together and I fall more and more in love with him every single day. We trade off spending weekends at each other's places. This is the best relationship I have ever been in and I don't think I've ever been happier.
Over the last week, I had been thinking about how I wished we would have bitten the bullet and met each other's parents at Christmas. I shook my leg as Andy and I watched a movie on the couch.
"What's up?" Andy asked, pausing the movie.
"What? Oh, nothing." I said, placing my hand on my knee to try to get it to stop bouncing.
"You're shaking the couch." He laughed. "What's on your mind?"
"I-I've been thinking about us taking a trip up to Ohio and, uhm, meeting each other's parents." I said nervously.
"I think that's a great idea." He said with a soft smile.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"You're not nervous?" I asked.
"Nervous to meet your parents? Hell yeah. Nervous for you to meet my parents? Not even a little bit. It evens out." He shrugged. "So, what are you thinking. Like inviting them both out to dinner and ripping off the bandage all at once?"
"Hell no." I said, shaking my head. "We can spend a day with your parents and then a day with mine."
"Whatever you want baby." He smiled, kissing my lips.
*One Month Later*
We landed and of course, everyone stood up the moment the seatbelt sign stood up. Andy and I stayed seated and waited until the line actually started moving.
"Welcome to Cincinnati." The flight attendant smiled at us as we walked off the plane. Andy grumbled as we walked through the tunnel.
"You good?" I laughed.
"It's just one of my pet peeves. When the flight attendant welcomes you to the city that they just landed in with you."
"Okay." I laughed. We walked out of the tunnel and through the airport. We went to baggage claim and grabbed our suitcases. We then walked to the rental car counter and Andy got us the car we had reserved. We figured it was easier to rent a car than rely on our parents to drive us around. We walked out to the car and Andy loaded our luggage into the trunk while I got into the passenger seat. Andy got into the driver's side and pulled out of the lot, beginning to drive toward the highway.
I sat, looking out the window, smiling at the familiar landscape of Cincinnati. My heart started to race when we exited the highway and started heading towards a subdivision. I chewed on my lip and my knee started to bounce again.
"It's going to be okay." Andy soothed, reaching out and placing his hand on my knee, holding it still. "They're going to love you." He reassured. I smiled at him and nodded, lightly grinding my teeth. He pulled into a driveway and turned off the car. He leaned back and let out a sigh, looking over at me.
"You ready?" He asked.
"No." I laughed. "But, I guess I have no choice. I mean, we're here." I said. He leaned over and grabbed my chin, kissing my lips.
"They're going to love you." He repeated. "Because I love you." He said and then opened the door. I took a deep breath and opened my door, getting out of the car. Andy grabbed our suitcases out of the car and we walked up to the door. He reached out and knocked at the door, my heart beating out of my chest as I heard footsteps from inside the house.
