Chapter 39

Andy's POV

*Two Days Later*

"Oh, the pizza is here!" I said, jumping out of bed and rushing down the stairs to see Brielle's dad handing cash over to the delivery driver.

"Brian, I got it!" I said.

"Nonsense, I've already paid him." He said as he shut the door with pizzas in hand. I chewed on my lip and took a deep breath.

"Let me pay you back." I said, digging in my wallet.

"Andy, it's okay." He said. "Let's eat." He said, walking to the kitchen with the pizzas.

*Five Days Later*

The rest of the week was spent with arguments popping up between Brielle's parents and I about money. I was determined to not let them spend any money, and they would hardly let me pay for anything. I was only able to pay for things when I completed the payment first. All I wanted to do was spend time with Brielle, but I was stressing myself out, making sure if we were waiting for something to be delivered, I was the first to submit payment.

I lifted Brielle from the bed and carried her downstairs. Today was her first follow-up appointment and she was getting her stitches out.

"Let me get the door." Her dad said, popping up from the couch and walking to the front door. I slipped on a pair of shoes and grabbed my keys.

"Thank you." I said and walked out the door. I unlocked the car and laid Brielle in the passenger seat, the seat still fully reclined from the drive home from the hospital. I got in the driver's seat and drove us to the hospital. I parked and scooped her up, carrying her through the front doors.

"Hi, appointment for Brielle Adams." I told the nurse at the reception desk.

"Take a seat, someone will be with you in a moment." She said with a smile. "Would you like a wheelchair?"

"Yes please." I said. She stood up and grabbed a wheelchair, pushing it over to me. I sat Brielle in the wheelchair and rolled it over to an empty seat, sitting down with Brielle next to me.

"Brielle Adams." A nurse called from the doors to the waiting room after about five minutes of us sitting around. I stood up and pushed Brielle's wheelchair to the nurse. We followed her down a hallway, into a room. I pushed the wheelchair up to the table and picked her up, laying her down on the table. We waited for a few minutes before there was a knock on the door.

"Hi Brielle." Her surgeon smiled at her.

"Hi." She said.

"Let's take a look at your incision, shall we?" He asked as Brielle lifted her shirt. He put on a pair of gloves, a nurse coming in with tools as he examined her. "It's looks really good, it's healing nicely. I'm going to go ahead and remove your stitches now." He said, turning to grab the tools from the nurse. He removed the stitches and then handed the tools back to the nurse, taking off his gloves and throwing them away.

"I'd still like you on bedrest until your appointment next week. I'm okay with short walks, like from the bed to the bathroom, if you're able. How is your pain level?"

"Okay. I'm normally only taking meds when I first wake up." Brielle said.

"That's good. Are there any concerns you'd like to bring up with me?"

"No, I think I'm all good." Brielle smiled.

"Alright, I will see you next week." He said with a smile as he left. Brielle pulled down her shirt and I went to help her sit up.
