Chapter 88: Don't Want To Wait For The Last Dance

Andy's POV

*Two Weeks Later*

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" my mom asked as we stood in the driveway.

"I promise," I said with a genuine smile. My parents were beginning the drive home today which meant I was now the sole caretaker of Madi. For at least the last week, I've been making it a point to not let my parents help unless I absolutely needed a break. I knew the time to fly solo was coming soon and I needed to be ready.

"I'm so proud of you, Andy," my mom said, pulling me into a hug.

"Thank you mom, for everything. I never could've made it here with you guys," I said as I hugged her back, glancing at my dad to make sure he heard.

"I need one last Madi snuggle!" she exclaimed, grabbing Madi from her car seat and holding her close. She had grown so big and was closer to an average size for her age. My parents went with me to her first cardiologist appointment and her heart is still healthy, which is amazing. I don't think my heart could handle my child being sick after everything I've gone through the last few months.

"Thank you so much, dad," I said, hugging him tightly.

"We'll always be here for you son, we're just a plane ride away."

"Please drive safe," I said as my mom passed Madi to my dad. I was so worried about them driving back alone, I even offered to ship their car to their house so that they could fly. They were insistent that they could drive back home. They did agree to do the trip in more days since I won't be there to help drive.

"We'll be fine," my mom brushed me off.

"If you get tired, stop at a hotel. Call me when you get to your hotel each night. If you need money, just let me know," I rambled.

"Andy, I used to make this drive between LA and Ohio all the time when you were first starting out!" my dad reminded.

"Yes, but you were younger then and you crashed once!"

"I crashed because there was snow, it's March. We're going to be fine,"

"You better because I cannot handle something happening to you guys," I said in a serious tone.

"We promise we will be safe," my mom said, hugging me one last time. My dad put Madi in her car seat and I hugged me. I picked up Madi's car seat and watched as they got in the car and drove away.

"Love you!" I called as they waved with their hands out of the open window. I carried Madi's car seat inside and went to the living room. I set the car seat on the floor and picked my daughter up, holding her close.

"It's just you and me kiddo, from here on out," I smiled down at her.

*One Month Later*

"Hey!" Jinxx greeted as he opened the door to his house.

"Hey," I said, walking in with Madi's car seat in tow.

"Hey Madi!" Jinxx greeted, leaning down and tickling her side. "Can I hold her?" he asked.

"Of course," I smiled, putting her car seat down on the ground. I picked her up and handed her to Jinxx. He held her close, smiling down at her.

"She really is beautiful, man."

"I know," I smiled, crossing my arms over her chest. "It's all Brielle, she has all of her features," I said sadly. I've been doing okay lately managing my grief, but sometimes it still hits me like a ton of bricks.
