Chapter 76: All The Times That I Keep Holding On To
Andy's POV
"Brielle's alive," I spoke, seeing looks of relief on their faces. "Her liver is beginning to fail and she's in a medically induced coma. They ensured me they're doing everything they can." I sighed.
"What about the baby?" my mom asked.
"She's okay, they're currently running tests to see how developed she is, but she's on oxygen instead of a ventilator which is good. I-I got to hold her," I said with a proud smile.
"Oh my goodness!" her mom squealed, the first bit of happiness she's had all day.
"Can we go see her?" her dad asked and I nodded. I led them all to Brielle's room, not caring if a nurse decided to yell at me for flooding the room with so many people. I opened the door, letting her parents go first.
"Brielle, baby!" her mom cried, rushing to her side and wrapping her arms around her body. She sobbed as the rest of us filed in. Brielle's dad stood at his wife's side and rubbed her back. I looked at Sienna who had her face buried in Sterling's chest. Sterling had a tight grip on her, practically keeping her from falling. My mom walked over to me and hugged me tight. I leaned down and kissed the top of her head, holding her close to me.
Brielle's parents talked to Brielle for a moment before stepping away, allowing Sienna to talk to her. Sienna gripped onto Brielle's hand, talking to her in a hushed tone, tears barreling down her face. After Sienna said her peace, my parents walked over to her and said a few kind words before coming back to me.
"Do you want to go see your granddaughter?" I asked my parents and they nodded. I led them out of the room and to the NICU. I talked to the nurse and she helped my parents and I get the same pink smock that I wore earlier. I led them in and over to the tiny baby.
"Oh my god," my mom whispered. I picked my daughter up and held her close, smiling down at her. "Have you decided on a name?" my mom asked and I shook my head.
"I'm waiting for Brielle," I said, my voice cracking at the mere mention of Brielle.
"She is perfect," my mom cooed, reaching out and brushing her finger along her tiny cheek.
"I know," I said, feeling a sense of pride. When I was holding my daughter, everything else went away. I was able to focus in on this moment and this feeling I had for my child.
"Do you want to hold her?" I asked and my mom nodded. I passed the infant to my mom and she quietly gasped, nearly melting at the sight of her granddaughter. My mom softly rocked her, cooing quietly to her. She passed her off to my dad and he smiled, holding the fragile baby close to his chest. My daughter was handed back to me and I sat in a nearby chair, gazing down at her.
"Can you send in Brielle's parents?" I asked and they nodded, leaving. I sat with my daughter, taking in every single feature on her sweet face.
"Andy," I heard a voice whisper. I looked up to see Brielle's parents. I smiled at them and walked closer.
"Meet your granddaughter," I said, handing her over to Brielle's mom.
"She has Brielle's nose," her mom gasped, starting to cry as memories of her daughter flooded her mind. She held on tight as she tried not to disturb the sleeping child.
"We never got a chance to pick her name," I said sadly as my daughter was passed to Brielle's dad. "I'm waiting for Brielle to wake up," I said, knowing there's a possibility she would never wake up again.
"I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect," her mom reassured. After Brielle's parents handed the baby back to me, I asked them to send Sienna in. I sat with my daughter until Sienna and Sterling came in. Sienna immediately covered her mouth, nearly crumbling to her knees. Sterling helped her over to me and I stood so Sienna could sit in the chair. I handed the infant to Sienna and she quietly cried over the tiny baby.
"I can't believe she's here," Sienna said. Sterling got to hold her for a bit before I put her back in her bassinet. I walked back to Brielle's room with Sienna and Sterling and sat in a chair next to Brielle's bed, grabbing her hand.
"Our daughter is gorgeous, babe. Just like her mama. Y-You would love her, you need to wake up to see our baby girl," I cried, holding Brielle's hand to my cheek.

All of us spent hours in Brielle's room, not willing to leave her side. At some point, I got up and walked over to Sienna, sitting next to her.
"What did Brielle say to you?" I asked her.
"What do you mean?"
"Before she went in for her C-section, what did she whisper to you?" I asked. She licked her lips and parted them slightly, taking a deep breath. It looked like she was trying to form the words.
"She asked me to take care of you," she said, locking eyes with me. "She asked me to make sure you were taken care of in case...in case she didn't make it," she said, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Sienna, I-"
"I'm not going to break my promise," Sienna said as she cut me off, her voice cracking. "You're not going to get rid of me that easily, Biersack," she laughed, nudging my shoulder. "You and that beautiful little girl are stuck with me, forever."
"Thank you, I-I don't know if I'll survive if she doesn't make it."
"You will, I'll make sure you do," Sienna said, patting my knee.
