Chapter 74: I Built These Walls To Watch 'Em Crumble Down

Andy's POV

I leaned against the wall outside of Brielle's room and cried into my hands. This can't be happening. Why can't anything ever be easy? I just wanted a happy life with my wife and daughter. Now they could both die?

I pulled my phone out of my pocket and called Sienna, hoping she hadn't boarded her flight yet.

"Andy?" Sienna questioned.

"Thank god you answered, have you flown back to LA yet?"

"No, we're staying through New Years."

"Good, I need you to get to the hospital."

"What?" Sienna asked, suddenly panicked.

"Brielle might have the baby today," I said, biting my lip to prevent from crying again.

"What the fuck are you saying Andy? Isn't it too early?"

"It's early, but the doctor's confident on the baby's survival chances. She has some type of syndrome that's going to force her to deliver early. She could die, Sienna. I'm so scared!" I started sobbing.

"Andy, oh my god, we'll be right there," she said as I heard her voice crack.

"Thank you," I said and hung up. I too a few deep breaths and tried to collect myself as I walked out to the waiting room. Four heads snapped to me when I walked in. I bit down hard on my lip again, not wanting her parents to see me cry. My mom rushed over to me and wrapped me in a hug. Suddenly, the dam burst. I couldn't hold back my tears any longer. I sobbed into my mom's shoulder, holding her tightly.

"Andy, what's wrong?" her mom questioned, an extremely worried expression on her face.

"It's bad, it's so bad. Oh my god, I'm so sorry, I should've taken her in sooner," I rambled, choking on my sobs.

"Andy, is Brielle okay?" her dad asked.

"They think she has HELLP syndrome, they might have to deliver the baby today, she could die from this! Oh my god!" I cried, clinging tight to my mom. She rubbed my back and whispered soothing things in my ear.

"Can we go see her?" her mom asked, tears in her eyes. I nodded and they grabbed visitors passes as I led them to her room. I opened the door and her mom raced in.

"My baby!" she cried out, holding Brielle tight.

"I'm okay mom," Brielle reassured. I looked at her face and could tell she had been crying.

"Brielle, stop saying that," I begged, tears still rolling down my face. "This is serious."

"I know, but it's also terrifying," she said as she started to cry again.

"Did they have a plan?" my dad asked.

"They're running some tests, if they're positive, she'll be rushed into an emergency C-section. God, I don't even know if they'll let me in there," I sighed.

"Andy, I need you there," she said, reaching out and squeezing my hand. "I-I can't do this without you. I don't want you to miss the birth of our daughter," she said, shaking her head.

"I'm going to do everything I can to make sure they let me into the room with you, I promise," I said, placing a soft kiss on her lips. "Oh, and I called Sienna. She's on her way," I mentioned."

"Thank you," she said, rubbing her belly. We all sat in that room for the next 30 minutes, silently. I sat on one side of the bed, clinging to my wife. Her mom sat on the other, holding her hand. My parents and her dad sat in the chairs along the wall.
