It's been six weeks since Korra and I go married.
We had a two week honeymoon on Ember Island and now we're back in Republic City.
King Wu is here to give his big speech about the Earth Kingdom's future.
I'm with Korra, Asami, Mako and Wu as Bolin, Varrick and Zhu-li come over to us.
Zhu-li: Good to see you all. Welcome back to Republic City, King Wu.
Wu: Thanks. And congratulations on winning your election.
Korra nudges Wu.
Korra: Are you ready for your big, historic speech?
King Wu looks outside.
Wu: I don't know... there's alot of people out there.
Y/N: You can't get cold feet now, Wu. This is a big deal.
Mako: Y/N's right. You need to do this, Wu.
He looks to Mako.
Wu: I've got an idea! How about you do my speech for me, Mako?
Mako: No way. You're the King, remember?
Wu: Thankfully not for much longer. I hate public speaking.
Y/N: Just relax, Wu. You'll do great.
Mako: Yeah, just be yourself.
Wu: Be myself... I can do that! You always know the right thing to say, Mako. Must be why I keep you around.
Mako: Must be.
After that we go outside and Wu goes up to the podium.
Wu: Good morning, everyone! As you all know, a couple of months ago I declared my intention to step down as Earth King and abolish the monarchy. Well, after much planning and many discussions with the leader's of the Earth Kingdom states, that time is almost upon us.
I look to Korra.
Y/N: (Whispers) Well, he hasn't messed up yet.
Korra: (Whispers) Don't hold out too much hope.
We giggle silently.
Wu: I'm pleased to announce that the very first democratic election two weeks from today, in the state of Gaoling!
Everyone claps.
Korra: (Whispers) He's doing great.
Mako: (Whispers) Better than I expected.
Y/N: (Whispers) Me too.
Mako: (Whispers) He actually looks like a real leader up there.
Wu: After the vote in Gaoling, elections will continue in the other states. Within a year, the Earth Kingdom will have completed it's peaceful transition to democracy. Any questions?
The reporter's start asking questions and Wu gets nervous.
He starts singing to the crowd.
Mako and I faceplam.
Korra: Well, you did tell him to be himself.
Mako: This is not what I meant.
Just then Zhu-li moves in and hits King Wu.
Wu: Whoa. I'm a little woozy.
Zhu-li: I think what the King is trying to express through the medium of song is that once the other states see Gaoling's smooth transition to democracy, they'll be encouraged to follow suit.
King Wu stumbles back.
Wu: Wu down.
Mako quickly catches him.
Zhu-li: Next question?
Well, that didn't go the way we thought.
But at least the Earth Kingdom's on the right path to democracy.
(The next day)
Today we're all at the trial for Kuvira as she's getting sentenced for her crimes.
Kuvira is standing before the judges.
Judge: By executive order of President Zhu-li Moon, this special tribunal is now in session.
Kuvira looks to the judges.
Judge: You stand accused of crimes against peace. During your reign as leader of the Earth Empire, your transgressions include.
The judge starts listing all of Kuvira's crimes and I didn't realise how many there actually were.
Judge: Kuvira, how do you plead?
Kuvira: I am sorry for the harm I caused to the people of the Earth Kingdom and this city, I truly am. But this tribunal seems all too eager to list my offences, without giving any consideration for my achievements.
Judge: Please enlighten us.
Kuvira: After the fall of the Earth Queen, the Kingdom fell into chaos. When no-one was willing to step up, I brought back order. I dragged aj ancient culture out of the dark ages and modernised it. Everything I did, I did for the greater good of the Earth Kingdom and it's people.
Judge: Kuvira, how do I plead?
Kuvira: Not guilty.
Everyone gasps.
Y/N: Ah, shit.
(Ten minutes later)
All of us are outside with Su and her family.
Just then the guards bring out Kuvira and Su immediately steps forward.
Y/N: Here we go.
Korra: Yep.
Suyin: Not guilty? The whole world knows what you did, Kuvira?
She steps infront of her.
Suyin: What are you trying to prove?
Kuvira looks away.
Suyin: Don't turn your back on me!
Kuvira: I know I hurt you and your family. But you all turned your backs on me long before the Earth Empire ever existed.
Suyin: That's a lie! I gave you a home. I provided for you.
Kuvira: But I was never really part of your family, was I?
Suyin: You attacked Zaofu! You almost killed my son!
Kuvira: And I've apologised numerous times. When will you see through you anger and forgive me?
Suyin: That's what you don't get. Being sorry isn't enough. You need to take responsibility for what you've done.
She walks away.
Suyin: Goodbye, Kuvira.
After that the guards take Kuvira away.
Korra and I look to each other.
Y/N: That went well.
Korra: Yeah. So, what now?
Y/N: Don't know.
I look at the clock on the wall.
Y/N: Ah, no. I've gotta go. I told Kai I'd meet with him for a sparring session.
Korra: Okay, baby. Have fun.
I chuckle.
Y/N: Thanks.
We lean in and kiss.
After that I leave to meet with Kai at Air Temple Island.
