The Fu family living room.

Fu Weilun placed his warm hand gently on the girl's head and softly said, "Xiaoxiao, I remember when you were just a tiny little baby, that's why we all call you Xiaoxiao. In the blink of an eye, you've grown so much."

Fu Xiao lowered her head, trying hard to control her emotions and remained silent.

For someone who has lived through the apocalypse, having someone touch their head is a taboo.

But she also knew this wasn't the apocalypse, and the person in front of her wouldn't harm her.

Don't retaliate, don't retaliate...

Sensing her tension, Fu Weilun assumed it was because she wasn't used to him after not seeing each other for a long time.

He sighed and withdrew his hand, his voice gentle, "Xiaoxiao, don't be afraid. Once everything is sorted out, your uncle will take you home. There are many brothers in the family, and we will all take care of and protect you."

He pointed to Fu Yu and said to her, "This is your older brother, Fu Yu. There's also a second brother back home, three years older than you."

Next to him, Fu Yu smiled and nodded at her.

Fu Weilun glanced at her with a smile, his gaze complex and subtle, exuding the shrewdness of a politician.

"Xiaoxiao, the family's wish is for  uncle and aunt to return to their hometown. If you agree, I'll see how to handle the paperwork, and we'll try to complete it as soon as possible so we can go back. Your great-grandfather is quite old now, and if it weren't for his age, he would have come along too. He has been waiting all this time."

Fu Xiao looked up, her clear black and white cat-like eyes slightly reddened. "Uncle, my grandfather mentioned in his letter that he wanted to go home. I, of course, agree. Could you also take my mother back?"

Fu Weilun sighed softly, his tone filled with pity and emotion, "Naturally, of course. Sister Jing Shu should not be left here alone."

Since arriving in this new world, the people she met, whether good or bad, all seemed to have some sort of agenda. Even the leaders who came to visit her showed little genuine concern, mostly pity or obligatory care. But these two in front of her were different; the concern in their eyes was genuine, without any pretense.

Fu Xiao felt a bit awkward. She could actually feel their sincerity and care.

Could it be because of the bond of blood and family?

Having never experienced this before, her emotions were quite mixed.

Fu Xiao's gaze shifted slightly, and she softly said, "Then I'll trouble you, Uncle."

"There's no trouble when it comes to family."

Fu Weilun stood up, preparing to leave. "You stay home with your brother. I'll go find the hospital director to handle the paperwork."

"Uncle, have some water first. I'll make something for you to eat. You've been on the train for a few days. Maybe take a nap first. It's still early, and the directors won't be in this early."

As she walked to the door, she remembered that she didn't know how to use the old stove in the kitchen. She turned back and sheepishly asked Fu Yu, "Big brother, could you help me start the fire? I'm... not very good at it."

Fu Yu, looking at his cute and soft-spoken sister, felt his heart melt. With a smile, he followed her into the kitchen.

"Sure, no problem."
