Handling military district calls was complicated. Using the county committee office's phone would likely attract surveillance, while the family's phone, though also potentially monitored, had less stringent verification.

Fu Weilun placed the receiver down and waited calmly. After about ten minutes, a familiar voice finally came through: "Hello..."

Fu Weilun picked up the receiver and spoke, "Second Brother..."

On the other end, Fu Weihao's deep voice responded, "Third Brother, what's happened at home? Is Father okay...?"

Fu Weilun's tone was cold as he replied, "Father is fine. It's just that something happened to our uncle in Shanghai a while ago. Now, only Xiaoxiao is left at home. She's been brought back to the old home."

After a brief pause, the tone on the other end became noticeably more serious, "Xiaoxiao is eleven this year, right?"

Fu Weilun chuckled lightly, "She's almost thirteen now... She's around the same age as Xiaoyu."

"...Oh." There was a brief hesitation before Fu Weihao continued, "I'll try to find time to come back."

Fu Weilun said, "Yes, you should definitely visit when you can. Father misses you. By the way, Second Brother, will you be staying at the military district recently?"

"Not sure," Fu Weihao replied, "You know I have to follow orders if there are sudden tasks."

Fu Weilun's expression remained unchanged as he said, "Oh, in that case, Father has prepared some things for you. Should I send them to the military district or your dorm? How can I get them to you?"

There was a moment of silence before Fu Weihao replied, "I don't need anything. Don't trouble Father with it. If there's something good, let him keep it. I'll send more money next month. Have Sister-in-law buy some things for Xiaoxiao."

Fu Weilun frowned, his tone becoming more serious, "Second Brother, just tell me if you'll be at the military district this month."

Fu Weihao was puzzled but knew his younger brother was reliable and wouldn't make baseless requests. He tentatively asked, "Why? Is it something important?"

"Yes, it's quite important."

Fu Weihao was silent for a moment before replying, "There's a lot of training this month, so I'll probably be at the military district."

Fu Weilun asked, "What about Ah Sui? She didn't go back to her family, did she?"

"No, she's been studying at the military district."

Fu Weilun nodded, "That's good. Then I can relax. Tell her not to leave the military district within the week... There's a gift for her from Xiaoxiao."

"I understand. How's work for you recently?" Fu Weihao inquired.

Fu Weilun casually responded, "Work is fine. The family is well, so don't worry. Just be careful during your tasks. Don't send money; we have enough. Xiaoxiao is very well-behaved. I'll send photos when I get the chance."

Fu Weihao sighed and said with a hint of a smile, "Alright, I understand. I'm sorry for troubling you with family matters. I'll definitely come home when I can."

Fu Weilun's tone was calm, "Second Brother, you say this every year. Just take care of yourself. The two boys are on vacation; let them come home for a visit. Father misses them a lot."

Fu Weihao agreed, as he had planned to do so anyway.

Fu Weilun concluded, "Second Brother, we've covered everything. I'll hang up now."
