The pressure cooker would automatically stop when the time was up, so she didn't need to stay in the space. She heard some noise and exited the space.

In the afternoon, when it was time for work, the two older brothers and the eldest uncle set off for the fields. Fu Xiao thoughtfully filled their water bottles with cool boiled water mixed with spring water.

She also packed a few milk candies for Fu Kai, watching him run off with a smile.

After they left, she stored the dried mushrooms and wood ears in the kitchen cabinet.

She swept up the leaves blown into the yard, added some spring water to the chicken coop, and watered the vegetable garden. Feeling that there wasn't much left to do, she went back to her room.

In the space, the braised beef was ready. She took it out, sliced it, and vacuum-packed the rest to eat later.

She sliced a few pieces of beef, washed some fruits, and lay on the lazy sofa on the balcony, enjoying a leisurely moment. The only thing missing was sunshine.

After relaxing on the sofa and listening to music for a while, she felt a bit drowsy and got up.

She went to the study, opened the computer, and saw that the watches for her second uncle's family were moving towards the northwest, so they would likely arrive soon.

She closed the computer, prepared a glass of juice from the kitchen, and took out a book from the bookshelf to continue reading.

In the county committee office:

Fu Weilen looked expressionlessly at You Pengtao, who was kneeling in front of him. Calmly, he asked, "Director You, what do you mean by this?"

You Pengtao, with his palms sweating and face pale, looked at Fu Weilen's impassive face, his voice trembling, "Secretary Fu, I made a mistake. Can you give me another chance...?"

He had planned to transfer his assets and then secretly escape to the port city to start anew. But upon waking up this morning, he found that all his savings were gone. Without these assets, he had no chance to go to the port city and had no choice but to beg the man before him.

Fu Weilen remained calm and composed, gazing down at him.

"Director You, I heard that your small courtyard was robbed. Did you lose anything important?"

Hearing this, You Pengtao's face went deathly pale. He struggled to say, "Nothing important. Just lost some money, nothing else..."

Fu Weilen remained silent for a moment. He knew that what was said was not the whole truth.

His surveillance agents reported that Director You had been frantically searching for things this morning, almost turning the small courtyard upside down. With such commotion, it couldn't have been just some lost money.

Moreover, he was puzzled as to why, despite having several people monitoring the situation, no one had seen who was responsible.

Was there another force in Anyang County...?

Of course, he didn't know that this force was his seemingly innocent and fragile niece.

Realizing something, he lifted his gaze slightly, "Since nothing important was lost, Director You, you might as well stop kneeling here. Go do what you need to do. I need to visit Comrade Xiao at the hospital... I don't have time to entertain you."

You Pengtao was clearly frightened by this and his face grew even worse, "Comrade Xiao... What happened to him?"

Fu Weilen maintained his impassive face, his eyes calm as he said, "This morning, someone broke both of Comrade Xiao's legs. Since we are colleagues, I need to visit him. Director You, you and Comrade Xiao are quite close, so why don't you come along?"
