The Next Morning

Shen Xingzhou was jolted awake by a series of urgent knocks on the door. As he heard frantic shouts outside, he leisurely got dressed, and upon opening the door, saw Xiao Liu, who had also been disturbed by the commotion. They exchanged a knowing smile.

Xiao Liu rubbed his eyes, stretched lazily, and said, "Brother Zhou, it must be those two from the Qi family. Should we open the door?"

Seeing Shen Xingzhou nod, Xiao Liu slowly dressed and then walked over to open the door.

As soon as the door opened, Qi Jinghao and Lin Bailian rushed in, finding Shen Xingzhou still in Beijing.

Qi Jinghao, with a face full of fury and a voice filled with righteous indignation, shouted, "You ungrateful son, did you take the things from the house? Those were mine! Return them all!"

Shen Xingzhou, leisurely sitting on a bench in the courtyard, looked at him with disdain, his peach blossom eyes showing contempt. "The things from the house? Are you sure those things belong to you?"

Qi Jinghao, enraged, tried to advance but was stopped by Xiao Liu, who shouted back, "You ungrateful son, I should have drowned you when you were born! I raised you, and now you're stealing my things?"

"Those things weren't yours. Besides, didn't you already make your move? Poisoned, right?" Shen Xingzhou asked coldly.

Qi Jinghao's eyes darted nervously. "Poison? What poison? Just return my things, or don't blame me for being merciless."

Shen Xingzhou laughed out loud. "Heh, father-son affection? Do we even have that?"

His peach blossom eyes were filled with sarcasm. "Those things were my mother's dowry. Does the eldest son of the Qi family feel embarrassed to use a capitalist's dowry?"

Qi Jinghao's face flushed red, either from anger or embarrassment. He roared, "And what about the things belonging to my father? Those are from my Qi family. You said you're now a Shen, right? Return those things!"

Hearing Qi Jinghao mention Qi grandfather, Shen Xingzhou's heart turned cold. His tone turned dangerous as he said, "If not for Grandpa leaving me a life, do you think you'd still be alive?"

"Qi Jinghao, I've contemplated killing you more than once. Do you want to know how I would've had you die?"

Qi Jinghao was visibly scared, his gaze shifting to Shen Xingzhou with a mix of fear and shock.

Seeing that Qi Jinghao couldn't handle this little beast, Lin Bailian glared at him and remembered something. Acting as if she was wiping tears, she said, "Xingzhou, did you have something to do with your brother's situation? You're brothers, after all. You shouldn't treat him like this. Please don't send him away."

Seeing he remained silent, she continued to cry, "Xingzhou, don't be so ruthless. We're all family. Your father and brother are your blood relatives. The things left by Grandpa should be divided equally."

Shen Xingzhou, with a cold look in his peach blossom eyes, turned his gaze to Qi Jinghao. "Since I still intend to follow Grandpa's wish, you should leave quickly."

Qi Jinghao's face turned ugly. "But I'm your biological father."

Shen Xingzhou remained silent, not even bothering to lift his eyelids, his smile making one shiver.

The fear in Qi Jinghao's eyes was clear.

The murderous intent in the young man's gaze was palpable. Qi Jinghao could see clearly that his son truly wanted him dead.
