"Grandpa, just cutting off the wings will do for now. Don't kill them just yet. We can't eat all of this. These chickens aren't dead; they're just unconscious. Let's keep them for now; they might even lay a few eggs..."

Grandpa Fu looked at the wild chickens in his hands in surprise. "They're not dead?"

Fu Xiao nodded repeatedly. "I used some tranquilizer. They're just unconscious, not dead."

Understanding, Grandpa Fu smiled and said, "Then let's just cut the wings off these chickens and kill the rabbits and field mice. We can't keep those."

"Grandpa, why can't we keep the rabbits?"

Grandpa Fu laughed and explained, "Wild rabbits dig burrows. Believe me, they could dig their way out overnight..."

"Oh."

Fu Xiao had never raised rabbits before. In her previous life, she only saw specially made rabbit enclosures, so she didn't know that rabbits couldn't be kept in the dirt.

At this moment, Grandpa Fu picked up a chicken and asked, "This one looks like it's dead already. Should we kill it?"

She looked up and saw the poor chicken she had accidentally squashed. She scratched her head and chuckled.

"Kill this one. We'll make chicken soup today. I'll cook it, and it'll be delicious."

Grandpa Fu nodded with a smile and began skinning the rabbits.

The scene was quite gruesome...

Although she had seen a lot of blood in the apocalypse, she still found it unpleasant.

She stood up and said to Grandpa Fu, "Grandpa, I'm going to deliver some water to Aunt. I'll be back soon."

"Go ahead. Just don't stay in the fields too long; the sun is hot."

"Got it..."

She took two large water jugs into the kitchen but didn't use the thermos, as the water from it was still too hot. Instead, she filled the jugs with 45°C water from her space's water dispenser, adding some spiritual spring water. She then headed towards the fields.

On the way, she encountered her second brother carrying a basket. She waved and approached him. Noting his sweaty forehead, she opened one of the jugs and handed him a drink. She whispered, "I'm delivering water to Aunt. Could you clean up that dead chicken? I'll make chicken soup when I get back—it's really good. Also, make sure to kill the roe deer. I don't know when the tranquilizer will wear off. What if it escapes?"

"Pfft..."

Fu Hong couldn't help but laugh at his sister's chattering, patting her on the head.

"Don't worry, I'll clean it up when I get back. Find a shady spot and stay out of the sun."

Fu Xiao turned and continued to the fields. Along the way, she secretly added a few ice cubes to the water jugs. The morning sun was hot, so the ice melted quickly, cooling the water for a more refreshing drink.

She thought about making a wild vegetable flatbread with purslane when she returned. It was something she had enjoyed in her previous life. People only saw purslane as wild greens for feeding chickens, but in traditional Chinese medicine, it was considered very beneficial, rich in vitamins and good for health in moderation.

She also planned to make a steamed dish with needle vegetables, mixed with garlic and chili. It would be a flavorful addition.

People in this era liked white flour, but she found wild vegetables more flavorful. With the spiritual spring water she used in cooking, it would be delicious.
