The next morning, the sky was bright.

Fu Xiao woke up and went to the bathroom to wash off the lingering smell of alcohol. She looked in the mirror and noticed her slightly swollen eyelids.

Applying some spring water helped reduce the swelling significantly, and the puffiness was barely noticeable.

She quickly changed her clothes and left her space. By this time, she should have already been up, and the training outside would have started. If she didn't go out soon, someone might come knocking on her door.

Stepping out of her room and into the front yard, she saw that Grandpa Fu had already started training with a few of her brothers. She went to her usual spot and joined in, keeping up with the pace.

Today, her movements were more intense than usual, as if she was venting something.

Grandpa Fu had initially planned to tease his beloved granddaughter about sleeping in. However, when he saw her come out, his smile faded. Noticing her swollen eyes and the bloodshot rims, he could sense something was wrong.

He became stern and thought, who had upset his granddaughter?

It seemed he would need to have a serious talk with those troublesome boys after training.

Fu Xiao's sweat was more profuse than usual today. After finishing her practice, she went to freshen up and then went to the backyard to feed the hens. The hens seemed to have gained some sensitivity from her spring water and would flock to the water basin whenever she approached.

Fu Xiao thought to herself: "Just lay good eggs, don't be too smart or I might not want to eat you."

Hen: "Not only lay eggs but also not be too smart? That's tough!"

After breakfast, Fu Xiao carried her basket and went up the mountain.

After she left, Grandpa Fu looked sternly at his grandsons and asked sharply, "Did you guys bully your sister?"

Fu Hong quickly waved his hands, "Grandpa, are you out of your mind? How could we possibly bully such a soft sister?"

Grandpa Fu's voice was cold, "Then why is your sister acting so strangely today, with swollen eyes?"

"Swollen eyes?" Fu Hong scratched his head, realizing it only then, and looked at Fu Yu.

Fu Yu seemed to be aware of the situation. His face showed no surprise as he said quietly, "Grandpa, we met an old acquaintance of Auntie's at the pharmacy in the county yesterday. I think Xiao Mei is missing Auntie."

Li Xiufen, hearing this, sighed and went back to her room without saying a word.

Grandpa Fu fell silent, waving his hand to dismiss the boys.

The other boys, except for Fu Hong, exchanged glances, clearly noticing Fu Xiao's unusual behavior that morning but unsure how to comfort her.

Feeling troubled, Fu Yu took Fu Hong and went to work in the fields with Fu Weibo.

Fu Yu accompanied Grandpa Fu in the yard, playing chess.

Fu Sui went up the mountain alone.

Fu Xiao, alone on the mountain, did not collect herbs but instead found a large tree, climbed up, and lay on a branch, doing nothing but quietly gazing into the distance.

In a daze, she heard Fu Sui's voice calling her. Looking down, she saw him walking toward her, though he hadn't seen her in the tree.

Fu Xiao spoke softly, "Third Brother?"
