After Mu Lianshen left, Fu Xiao opened the box and took out the gun, examining it briefly before returning it to the box along with the bullets. She stored everything in her space. Then, she opened the passbook and glanced at the balance, mildly surprised by the amount saved.

She placed the passbook into her space's study and decided to prepare a return gift. She carried the larger box of medicinal herbs into the space and organized the valuable ingredients, which included some rare detoxifying herbs. She stored them in the warehouse before moving on to her room to buy a simple watch online, ensuring its GPS function was enabled.

With the watch in hand, she stepped out of the space and lay down, gradually closing her eyes as sleep began to overtake her. Her breathing steadied, and she fell asleep.

The next morning, at the school gate, Fu Xiao smiled at Mu Lianshen. "Have a good trip."

Mu Lianshen, with a regretful smile and a gentle tone, replied, "I promised to spend more time with you, but I couldn't keep that promise. I'll come back as soon as I can after my work is done."

She returned his smile calmly, "It's okay, I'm not a child anymore."

She handed him a small gift and some medicinal supplies. "This is a small gift for you, and here are some wound medicines."

Mu Lianshen took the items with one hand and opened his arms. "Can I have a hug?"

Fu Xiao stepped forward, giving him a gentle hug before stepping back. "Hurry up and get in the car. Goodbye."

As she spoke, she took a step back.

Mu Lianshen looked at her intently through the rearview mirror, his gaze softening as he watched her wave goodbye. His eyes caught her lips moving silently, saying, "Daddy, goodbye."

Mu Lianshen's heart clenched, his eyes welling up as his lips curved into a faint smile. Even though she had never called him that in front of him before, the words stirred deep emotions within him.

He continued to caress the box Fu Xiao had given him, his gaze fixed on it as he remained silent. The driver and bodyguards, who had borrowed the car from the Anyang County police station, remained quiet, aware of the tension in the air.

After a while, Mu Lianshen slowly opened the box. He examined the watch, his eyes gleaming with curiosity and admiration. Having never worn a watch before, he put it on and kept checking it. The medicinal powders inside the box were inspected carefully, noting her precise handwriting on the labels.

Mu Lianshen carefully replaced the powders and kept the box close throughout the journey, his hand subconsciously rubbing the watch.

As the car hit a bumpy stretch of road, the driver glanced nervously at Mu Lianshen but quickly looked away, focusing on the road.

Mu Lianshen, feeling the pressure in the vehicle, calmly instructed, "Stop at the nearest place with a phone."

The driver responded respectfully, "Understood."

Time passed swiftly, and it was already November. The weather grew cooler, the trees turned yellow, and Fu Xiao switched to autumn clothing.

At school, she consistently scored full marks on her tests. Her teachers increasingly trusted her abilities. Occasionally, when she skipped class with a valid reason, the teachers would understand and agree.

Today, she had asked Fu Hong to deliver a message to her teacher, letting them know she would not be attending school. This was because her eldest brother, Fu Yu, was taking an important exam, and she wanted to witness it.

Although she couldn't enter the examination hall, waiting in Fu Weilin's office was preferable to enduring boring classes.

She put on her coat and walked out of the small courtyard. As she left the alley and felt the coolness on her ankles, she noticed her pants seemed a bit short. She frowned, considering whether she should go back to change.

Deciding against it, she thought, "These pants must be from Shanghai. If they're short now, it means I've grown. So, all that milk drinking wasn't for nothing."

Her spirits lifted, she walked more briskly, ignoring any discomfort from the shorter pants.

As she strolled, she noticed a secluded alley with unusual noises. Using her spiritual sense, she approached and saw a girl looking anxious, with a man with an ordinary appearance but a lecherous gaze following her.

The man moved closer, smiling in a sleazy manner as he grabbed the girl's hand. The girl gasped in fear, her face turning pale as she bit her lip and looked around desperately.

Fu Xiao picked up a stone from the roadside and accurately threw it.

The man cried out in pain, holding his head where blood was visible. The girl was startled and looked back.

Seeing Fu Xiao approaching, the man tried to defend himself, "Who's harassing whom? I just wanted to be friends. Don't make baseless accusations."

Fu Xiao rolled her eyes, uninterested in his excuses. She calmly told the girl, "Call the police."

The girl, startled and embarrassed, hesitated, shrinking back as she looked at the menacing man and then around the alley. Finding no one else around, she relaxed slightly and stammered, "It's not necessary... I'm fine, just... just forget it."

The man, relieved by the girl's statement, grew bolder and yelled, "You heard her, I'm not a harasser. If you hurt me, you'll owe me ten bucks."

Fu Xiao kicked him hard, sending him sprawling. She then calmly dusted off her hands, disdainfully calling him "Trash" as she looked at the man on the ground. She turned a cold eye on the still-shrinking girl, sneering before walking out of the alley.

Without further delay, she headed directly to the County Committee compound.
