Meanwhile, the group of four reached the state-owned restaurant. Just as they arrived at the entrance, a man in his thirties came out of the restaurant. Seeing them, he immediately put on a flattering smile and walked up to greet Fu Weilun.

"Oh, isn't this the Secretary? Why didn't you let us know you were coming? I could have arranged something for you."

He looked just like an ancient eunuch welcoming the emperor.

Fu Weilun didn't stop walking. While adjusting his watch strap, he calmly replied, "Manager Li, I'm just here to have a simple meal with my young relatives. There's no need to trouble you."

Li Damao nodded with a smile and led them to the second floor, into a small private room. They ordered a plate of braised pork, a plate of fried fish, two plates of vegetables, and some steamed buns.

While waiting for the food, Fu Yu asked Fu Weilun about the man they saw at the entrance of the county committee courtyard. With a calm expression, Fu Weilun explained to them, "He's a newly appointed police station chief transferred from the military district in Beijing. He knows your second uncle and came over to have a chat."

Fu Yu sighed, "Is Second Uncle still not coming back this year?"

"No, he isn't," Fu Weilun replied.

Fu Hong quickly asked, "Will A'sui and A'yu be able to come home for the New Year this year? I haven't seen them for two years."

Fu Weilun glanced at him and replied calmly, "I'm not sure. If you really want to see them, you can ask Grandpa to call your second uncle in advance. You know, your second uncle listens to him."

Fu Hong nodded with a conflicted expression, not saying anything more. He didn't dare suggest this because, although his second uncle was agreeable, his second aunt was... less so. The last time Grandpa called, Second Aunt was so angry that she wouldn't let him talk to the family and insisted on keeping it quiet.

Fu Weilun's eyes briefly showed a hint of coldness, as if he knew something.

His gaze unintentionally fell on Fu Xiao, who was sitting quietly, listening to their conversation. His expression softened immediately. "Xiao Xiao, why do you want to buy a bicycle?"

Fu Xiao blinked and replied sweetly, "Uncle, it's quite convenient to have a bicycle at home, isn't it?"

He raised an eyebrow and smiled gently. "If you want to buy one, go ahead. But just buy one, and give the other ticket to Uncle, okay?"

Fu Xiao nodded and took out both bicycle tickets from her satchel, handing them to him.

At this moment, the food was ready. Li Damao and a receptionist brought the dishes up. After the dishes were delivered, Fu Weilun gave one of the bicycle tickets to Fu Yu. Then, he took out a stack of money from his wallet and handed it to Fu Yu, instructing, "After lunch, take your sister to buy a bicycle."

"Uncle, I have money," Fu Yu said, taking the ticket but pushing the money back to him.

Fu Weilun pushed it back again. "Use it to buy more things for Xiao Xiao," he said, picking up his chopsticks and inviting the others to start eating.

After the meal, they went downstairs. As they walked out, Fu Weilun paid for the meal with cash and tickets at the cashier's window without bothering to inform Li Damao. They then left.

At the entrance of the department store, the three of them waved goodbye to Fu Weilun, who was heading back to work.

Turning back, Fu Yu saw the two of them staring at him with wide eyes. Helpless, he led them into the department store, heading straight to the bicycle section on the first floor and finding a sales clerk.
