After breakfast, Fu Xiao and her two older brothers headed to the county city. By the time they arrived, it was already past seven.

Fu Yu had initially planned to go straight to the county committee dormitory since he had a spare key.

Fu Xiao, sitting on the back of the bicycle, tugged at his shirt and spoke softly, "Elder Brother, I'll go to Shen Xingzhou's courtyard first to check on his detoxification progress."

"Alright..." He glanced at her and continued to pedal steadily. As they neared the courtyard, his gentle voice came again, "Xiao Xiao, are you hiding something from me?"

"Why do you say that?"

Fu Yu chuckled softly, "Sister, it's hard to keep things from me in the village. Was it Shen Xingzhou who sent you a message yesterday?"

She was silent for a few seconds before replying with a smile, "Elder Brother, it's nothing much. He's just helping me investigate someone. I suppose he has results now."

"Ah..."

Upon reaching their destination, Fu Yu knocked on the courtyard door. Almost as soon as the knock sounded, footsteps were heard from inside.

The door opened, and Shen Xingzhou greeted them with a smile, "You arrived early. Have you had breakfast?"

Fu Yu nodded and replied calmly, "We've already eaten."

Shen Xingzhou invited them into the living room and poured three cups of tea. "Xiao Xiao, thank you for the antidote. I've definitely felt much better these past few days."

Fu Xiao signaled him to extend his wrist, placed her fingers on it, and after a moment, released him, saying softly, "Just take the antidote on time. It's best to avoid alcohol for this month."

Shen Xingzhou smiled and nodded, then suddenly stood up and went to the study. He returned with a thick envelope and handed it to her. "This is from my uncle."

She hesitated for a moment but took it. It was probably the reward he had mentioned earlier. Since it was offered, there was no need to pretend otherwise.

"You sent someone to deliver a message to me yesterday," she said, looking at Shen Xingzhou. "Did you find out anything?"

Shen Xingzhou glanced at Fu Yu and Fu Hong, seeing that she made no effort to hide her words from them. He smiled, pulled out a letter from his pocket, and handed it to her.

"This is all I could find out. I couldn't uncover anything more."

Fu Xiao thanked him softly and then opened the envelope, taking out the note inside. The information was simple, listing basic family members and some basic details.

Her gaze landed on the name Mu Lianshen, who had a wife and daughter. She furrowed her brow, pushing down the discomfort she felt, and continued reading. When she saw the daughter's name, her expression froze and her eyes turned cold.

Mu Nianshu?

Her mother's name was Fu Jingshu.

If it really was him, his actions were truly despicable.

Fu Xiao tightened her lips, paused for a moment, and asked, "Are there no photos?"

Shen Xingzhou shook his head. "I couldn't find any photos. I can only confirm that this information is accurate. Other details might be hidden or deliberately misleading."

"How much do I resemble him?"

Shen Xingzhou's gaze fell on her face. "Extremely similar."

Fu Yu took the note from Fu Xiao and, with a serious expression, read through the information. Fu Hong also leaned in to read it. After a long silence, Fu Hong's face showed a rare serious expression.
