Chen Ye, hearing this, smiled warmly, "It's been a while since we last gathered. How about we find a time to have a drink?"

"Oh?" Zhai Jiu, with his arms crossed, a smile flickering in his otherwise calm eyes, responded, "You mean, without that troublesome fellow, we should have a get-together?"

He seemed to remember something and his smile widened, "I forgot, that person is busy currying favor and isn't in Beijing."

"Alright then, when?"

Wei Xuezhe interjected, "How about tonight? You could also invite Feng Zheng."

Zhai Jiu raised an eyebrow, "I don't mind, but don't you all have family obligations?"

"Let's do it tomorrow," he said with a faint smile, "Cheng Feng has things to handle at home today. Tomorrow evening, same place..."

Chen Ye nodded and turned to Wei Xuezhe with a smile, "Alright, see you tomorrow."

"We'll head out now..."

"Take care..."

Zhai Jiu made no move to see them off, merely smiling as he watched them leave the study.

Once the study door was closed, he leaned back in his chair, a faint smile playing on his lips.

He was clearly looking forward to the upcoming reunion.

At the Lu residence, Lu Yuan had just seen off the person who came to deliver the message.

Turning back to the room, he saw Yuan Hongying organizing her clothes and asked, "Mom, where's Dad?"

Yuan Hongying, dressed in a well-fitted military uniform, looked back at him with her usual serious expression, "In the study..."

"Oh," Lu Yuan said with a smile, "Mom, what are you up to?"

She cast him a sideways glance, "I have a mission."

With that, she turned and left the house.

"Be careful."

Watching her leave, Lu Yuan then entered the study.

He found Lu Zuoxian staring blankly at his desk.

The middle-aged man was wearing a dark gray cotton jacket. He was quite tall, and the sedentary work in his office had caused him to gain a bit of weight, making him less the vigorous figure he was in his youth.

However, Lu Yuan knew that when he was angry, his gaze could still be quite fearsome.

He spoke softly, "Dad..."

Lu Zuoxian looked up at him, "Hmm?"

Lu Yuan smiled and asked, "Don't you want to go?"

Lu Zuoxian's smile was somewhat bitter. He murmured, "You don't understand..."

He waved his hand towards Lu Yuan, "Go on, let me be alone for a while."

The study was quiet with only Lu Zuoxian remaining. He lowered his head, lost in thought.

Even now, he did not regret the past decisions.

Even if it meant leaving his most beloved unit.

A flicker of stubbornness crossed his eyes.

He was certainly happy about the long-awaited reunion with friends.

Yet, he was also afraid that seeing them would make him waver on the principles he had held onto for so long.
