Mu Lianshen returned to the courtyard, placing the food he bought on the table and said to Fu Xiaoyao with a smile, "Let's eat."

He then sat down and quietly began eating the noodles.

Lu Yuan, who had also calmed down, picked up his bowl and started eating as well.

There was nothing to be done; he had no clue. Being anxious was useless.

After the meal, they cleaned up and chatted idly in the courtyard.

As the twilight deepened and night gradually enveloped the yard, casting everything in soft shadows, Fu Xiaoyao asked, "Have you ever fought with wolves?"

Mu Lianshen, sitting beside her with a fan in hand, helping her cool off, smiled as he recalled the past. "I had many martial arts teachers growing up, each teaching me all sorts of bizarre things. One of them taught us how to kill and survive in the wild."

"He was quite strict, and his teaching method was to make us experience things firsthand."

He stretched out his left leg, revealing a bite mark on his ankle. "This was from a wolf."

He then extended his right leg, crossing it over the left, and chuckled, "At that time, we stayed in a dense forest for a week before he showed up."

Lu Yuan suddenly interjected, "How come I never heard about this from my dad?"

"He didn't go," Mu Lianshen replied with a faint smile. "Your grandmother and grandfather didn't agree, so he didn't go."

Everyone knew that the teacher was quite mad, and they didn't want their children learning from him. But Mu Lianshen, being rebellious, insisted on learning from him, and although he did learn a lot, he also understood why the older generation thought he was crazy.

Many people almost didn't make it through his teaching.

The courtyard fell into a peaceful silence as Fu Xiaoyao listened intently. Suddenly, she sensed something and her gaze sharpened as she looked towards the courtyard gate.

Mu Lianshen also noticed something. He abruptly cut off Lu Yuan, who was about to speak, saying, "Alright, it's getting late. Let's all head inside and get some rest."

He took Fu Xiaoyao's hand and led her to the door of the room she stayed in previously, ruffling her hair with a smile, "Good night. Get some rest early."

Fu Xiaoyao's gaze flickered, her tone firm, "I want to stay with you for a while."

This was the first time she had ever said something like that to him. Knowing she was worried about him softened his heart.

Mu Lianshen's expression became gentler, and his smile was warmer than ever, "Don't worry. I'm just meeting an old friend."

"I'm just curious," she said awkwardly.

"Alright, then I'll introduce you to a friend of Dad's."

Mu Lianshen led her back to the main hall, set the pastries on the table, and took out two wine glasses, placing them opposite him.

A man in black darted into the courtyard under the cover of night, his movements as agile as a panther as he climbed over the wall and entered the courtyard.

"Who's there?" Lu Yuan's voice was sharp and alert.

The man ignored him and headed straight for the main hall.

Lu Yuan moved to block his way, launching a rapid and forceful punch. The man cast a cold glance at him and countered with a punch of his own, his fists as hard as steel, accompanied by a fierce gust of wind.
