Noticing the changed expressions of the two people opposite him, the quick-witted Xu Zongsun seemed to realize something. "I just happened to see her picking herbs, so I thought she might have some medicine. Don't worry; I don't know anything else."

"I apologize for putting you in a difficult position," Xu Zongsun said with a bitter smile. "You can rest assured, ever since I came to this village, the team leader has taken good care of us. I would never repay kindness with betrayal."

After speaking, he picked up Xiaoyu and turned to leave.

Fu Xiao and Fu Sui exchanged a glance, surprised that he gave up so easily.

When he was about to enter the cowshed, Fu Xiao called out, "Wait..."

Seeing him stop, she walked a few steps closer and asked, "First, tell me why you need the anti-inflammatory medicine."

A glimmer of hope flickered in Xu Zongsun's lifeless eyes as he hurriedly replied, "My father cut his foot a few days ago and hasn't treated it. It's starting to fester, and he developed a fever this morning. Without medicine, I fear he won't make it."

Fu Xiao asked curiously, "Why not tell the team leader? He wouldn't ignore you."

Xu Zongsun replied with a pained expression, "Even if I tell the team leader, what good would it do? We can't leave the village."

Not interested in Xu Zongsun's family secrets, Fu Xiao simply said, "I'll give the medicine to Xiaoyu this afternoon."

She turned around and pulled Fu Sui away.

On their way home, he asked, "Why did you agree to give him the medicine?"

Fu Xiao smiled, "Xiaoyu mentioned that his father and grandfather were university professors."

Fu Sui was puzzled. "So what? How does that relate to my question?"

"I just think that a teacher who educates others doesn't seem like a bad person," Fu Xiao said, her voice calm and devoid of emotion.

"Sister, aren't you being too naive? Not all teachers are morally upright."

His smile was cold. "Many of them are just hypocrites, rotten to the core, hiding behind a facade of virtue."

"So what?" Fu Xiao's voice remained indifferent, her gaze steady as she stared at him. "Third Brother, if you encounter such people, just ignore them. If they cross your path, then deal with them."

Fu Xiao chuckled softly. "I only heard a few words from Xiaoyu and felt that his family seemed to be law-abiding. This time, I'm giving him the medicine as a favor to Xiaoyu. Even if I've misjudged the man, there are always ways to correct it later, aren't there?"

Fu Sui remained silent.

Fu Xiao glanced at him, sensing that he was hiding something, and caught a fleeting glimpse of hatred in his eyes. She smiled and said, "Third Brother, I have a lot of poisons on hand, all kinds. Many can kill silently and without a trace. If you ever need them, just let me know."

After saying this, she quickened her pace to catch up with Fu Kai, holding his hand as he hopped along.

Left behind, Fu Sui's expression shifted unpredictably as he continued walking, lost in thought...

Suddenly, he seemed to have come to a realization. He stopped abruptly, a storm brewing in his deep, cold eyes. He muttered to himself, "Poison, huh? Not a bad idea..."

He closed his eyes slightly, and after a few seconds, opened them again. This time, his gaze had regained its usual calm.

He leisurely continued his walk home.
