The next day.

The sky was a hazy blue, and the air was fresh.

Fu Xiao opened her eyes, hearing the commotion outside. She quickly got out of bed, dressed, and opened the door.

In the living room, Tan Lingling was frowning as she struggled with the breakfast Wei Xuezhe had sent. The issue was whether she should accept it or not, especially since he left before she could refuse.

Seeing Fu Xiao approach, Fu Weihui smiled and said, "Xiao Xiao's up? Have breakfast first. There's no rush. It's fine to head out after eating."

Tan Lingling took this as a cue and placed the breakfast on the dining table.

The family gathered around the table and finished their breakfast.

Fu Weihui gave Fu Xiao another round of instructions before picking up his backpack and escorting them to the door.

Fu Sui, still displeased, grabbed Fu Xiao and muttered under his breath. Fu Xiao gently hugged him, promising she would come back to the northwest once things were resolved.

He finally let go.

The family saw them off to the door.

At the entrance, two military vehicles were parked. Mu Lianshen leaned against the front vehicle and, seeing them approach, turned to help with their bags.

Fu Weihui clearly still had a grudge against him. He bypassed Mu Lianshen and put the bags into the car himself.

He then whispered something to Fu Yue before watching them get into the car. He didn't say a word to Mu Lianshen throughout.

The car started...

As they drove away, Fu Xiao looked out the window until she could no longer see the figures of her family, then pulled her head back inside the car.

Wei Xuezhe had already pulled Fu Yue into another car at the entrance.

With only Mu Lianshen and Fu Xiao in the car, Fu Xiao felt an unusual atmosphere. Ignoring the attention from her companion, she closed her eyes to rest.

Mu Lianshen, watching her, saw her fall asleep. He carefully adjusted his position and gently rested her head on his shoulder, making her more comfortable.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Shen Xingzhou observed the scene with a complex expression.

Sensing his gaze, Mu Lianshen glanced at him with indifferent eyes.

The warmth from earlier was gone, replaced by a deep, cold gaze.

Shen Xingzhou calmly looked away...

Mu Lianshen maintained his position, not daring to move, to avoid disturbing her.

Listening to Fu Xiao's steady breathing, he closed his eyes as well.

With their faces almost identical and resting so close together, the resemblance between them was striking.

Shen Xingzhou, seeing this from the rearview mirror, wasn't the only one; even the driver stole several glances.

The car hit a particularly rough stretch of road, causing a jarring bump that woke Fu Xiao.

She opened her eyes, noticing her head resting on Mu Lianshen's shoulder. Her expression shifted slightly. She subtly moved away and adjusted her position before closing her eyes again.
