Why do I feel this way?

Chapter 7: Black Americano

It's been a week since Vivian had the meeting with Siobhan and checked up on her. They had seen each other at the nursery the Thursday before and discussed having meetings about concerns with the upcoming merger. Siobhan scheduled a meeting for Monday morning, this morning. Siobhan walked in the nursery with a soft glowing energy. She walked into the office and Marjorie said, "Well what are you so happy about?" as she let out short laugh. Thinking to herself that she has never seen Siobhan in this good of a mood. Siobhan turns to look at Marjorie, lets out a sigh, and asks what she is talking about. Marjorie says, "Oh, nothing..." while she sits at her desk getting situated to start her work day.

An hour later, Vivian arrives to drop Jamie off at nursery. She walks in with Jamie and two coffees heading straight to do handover with Charlotte. Of course, Charlotte greets them with a sweet smile saying good morning to them. Vivian gives Jamie a quick hug and kiss on his forehead and tells him to have a good day, thanks Charlotte and heads to the office.

Vivian walks into the office, "Hiya Siobhan and Marjorie!" as she walks over to Siobhan handing her the coffee, "black americano right?" Siobhan motions to Vivian to come with her as she tells Marjorie she will be back after their meeting. They walk down to the family room as they both take a sip of their coffee.

Vivian begins the conversation with asking how Siobhan is feeling. Siobhan tells her that she is feeling well and her pain has significantly improved. Vivian smiles at that report and takes another sip of her coffee. The two sit quietly sipping on their coffee both fully aware this meeting wasn't about the merger, but also struggling to make conversation.

After a few minutes, Vivian breaks the silence as she tells a story about Jamie. Jamie's favorite topic at the time was dinosaurs and he would mimic all of the different sounds he heard from shows he had seen. Vivian giggled as she explained, "I was playing dinosaurs with Jamie and I was acting like the dinosaur I had was winning against his. Jamie looked up at me, raising one of his eyebrows at me and said 'Mom, that's a herbivore, it eats plants. It can't hurt my dinosaur because mine is a carnivore and it eats other dinosaurs.' He shakes his head as if to show his disapproval and takes the dinosaur out of my hand! He began to line all his dinosaurs up and taught me which ones where carnivores and herbivores. I didn't expect to be schooled by my 3 year old son, but he meant business."

Siobhan let out a genuine belly laugh, which was unusual for her. Vivian's eyes widened and her face lit up at the sound of her laugh. Siobhan responded, "I'm impressed! Jamie sounds really smart and imaginative. I wonder where he gets that from?" She teased as she fixes her eyes on Vivian's and smiles.

Vivian stares at Siobhan, adoring every movement. Her eyes wander to Siobhan's dimples as she smiles, to her gorgeous lips and her beautiful grey eyes. She almost forgets to breathe as she observes Siobhan's genuine beauty. She hopes that Siobhan will continue to let her see more and more of her. She also feels conflicted about her feelings because of Siobhan's current situation.

All the while Siobhan is experiencing her own conflicting thoughts.

Vivian lights up so bright when she talks about Jamie and I can feel how much she loves him. Of course he is smart and imaginative, I mean look at his beautiful mother. When I look at her, a wave of joy washes over me. Whoa, I'm getting carried away, it's just nice to have someone that cares about me that's all. I just feel guilty thinking that Viv cares more for me than Roger does, I mean he is my partner and loves me.

Before they know it, the time for the meeting to end is almost here, coffee is gone and they each wore a smile. Siobhan tells Vivian that she has really enjoyed their meeting and she is looking forward to the next. Vivian takes out a piece of paper and writes her landline down, "just in case you need me". They both stand and lean in to embrace each other. Siobhan wraps her arms around Vivian's neck, pulling her closer so their faces touch. Vivian slid her arms around Siobhan's lower back, pulling her even closer. Siobhan feels her body relax as she melts into Vivian. Vivian felt the warmth Siobhan provided and wants to hold her a little longer.. Siobhan pulls away smiling at Vivian, "I'll see you later Viv." already longing to see her again. Vivian blushes and winks at Siobhan, "See you later Bon Bon." Vivian thinks to herself, "what is this woman doing to me? I have never felt this before with anyone."
