AWorldOfHerOwn ..... don't get mad.....
Vivian stirred awake first forgetting that they never made it back to the condo that evening. It was the rising of the sun that pulled her out of her sleep— the soft light gently teasing her eyes. She looked at her gorgeous wife seeing a peace shining from her face she hadn't seen for a while. Vivian leaned in slowly, pressing a gentle kiss to Siobhan's cheek. The blonde woman smiled, feeling the gentle touch of her wife turning her head to catch her lips with her own.
As they pulled away from their tender kiss, Siobhan whispered, "Last night was... amazing, Viv." The two chuckled quietly as visions from the night before flashed in their mind. Vivian brushed her fingers against Siobhan's cheek as she responded, "We are resting today after all that. I'm sore from the..." Siobhan's face began to burn red, "Yeah, that— I didn't know I was still that flexible..." Vivian winked as she pressed one more kiss to her wife's lips. "Let's get our clothes back on and get back to the condo."
They helped each other find their clothes that had been blown by the wind overnight. Once they got dressed and arrived at the condo, Vivian went to the kitchen area as Siobhan turned on the TV flipping to the news channel. Vivian heard Siobhan gasp as she was getting some cheese from the fridge. "What is it, Bon?" As she turned towards the living room, she heard the breathless voice, "They found him." Her face wrinkled in confusion as she questioned, "Who?"
Siobhan turned the volume up as the news woman continued with the story, "Breaking news. The body of the missing millionaire, Roger Knight, has been found." Vivian shuffled over in shock to sit next to Siobhan on the couch. "Due to evidence found tying this murder to a notorious criminal enterprise, Mr. Knight's business will be under investigation."
They sat in silence as they processed the news. Of course, they already knew the fate of Roger, but it was still a shock to their system. Especially as the news woman continued her report, "The forensic investigators have determined that Mr. Knight was alive when he was propelled to the bottom of the channel by cement blocks." Vivian remembered what Mia said that night when Bennie told them to ask her what his quote meant. Now they knew in even greater detail what had happened to him.
"Bon, you might need to call Autumn just to check in. Not only is she hearing what happened to her father, but now she will be dealing with an investigation." Siobhan nodded, her voice soft with a hint of hesitation, "You're right, Viv." Vivian returned to continue cooking breakfast as Siobhan called Autumn.
The soft, steady voice was somehow a welcome comfort to Siobhan's ears, "Hi, Siobhan. I'm guessing you have seen the news?" The blonde answered with a simple, "yeah." A beat of silence echoed between them before Autumn spoke again. "Are you okay?" Siobhan's eyes widened in confusion, "I'm fine. I should be asking you that question. He was your father." Autumn sighed, "Is that you asking?" Siobhan hummed. "Honestly, I wish he would have just stayed 'missing', but no, even in death he has to cause more harm to us. Hopefully with the investigation it will be clear none of us knew what he was involved in."
Siobhan took a deep breath, "Right. Hopefully so..." She ended the call, but remained on the deck leaning on the railing peering out into the open ocean. A smile pulled at her lips as she felt oddly relieved. This news brought a sense of closure she didn't have before.
She walked back in through the sliding doors finding Vivian staring at her phone screen. Her heart sank sensing the shift in her facial expression. "Viv?" The brunette slowly brought her eyes to Siobhan's, "It's Jamie. He had a rough time with chemo today. They are admitting him." The blonde rushes to Vivian's side to comfort her. "My mom is staying with him tonight. The nursery crew have committed to rotate nights with her. She wants us to continue with our honeymoon."
Vivian's phone begins to ring and 'Athena' lights up across the screen. "Hiya, mum." The red head cuts her daughter off quickly as she lovingly shares her wisdom. "Jamie is going to be fine. You know how this goes. Sometimes he is going to have bad days." Vivian tries to interject, but her mum continues, "You have a village here surrounding your little boy. And he loves that everybody comes to see him." She chuckled a little as she thought about how Jamie lights up seeing his teachers outside of the nursery. "You and Siobhan need this time together to heal. It's no use coming back still broken. He needs his mums to be whole again." A comforting silence settled between them before Athena asked, "Do you want to talk to him before I let you go?" Vivian sighed, "Well, obviously, did you really have to ask?" The older redhead laughed as she walked the phone over to Jamie.
The innocent and excited voice met Vivian's ears as she put the phone on speaker for Siobhan to hear. "Hi mummy, hi Bonnie! I miss you, but you can't come back yet. You and Bonnie have to get better too." Vivian brought her hand to her chest placing it over her heart as she made a mock pouty face at Siobhan. The blonde smiled softly as her heart swelled with emotion. "You're right, Jamie. We love you and miss you so much! We will be home soon."
