"Sweetheart, what do you want for dinner tonight?" Mia calls out to Charlotte. She hears her phone ding and glances at the screen.
Seeing that it is from Vivian a mischievous smile spreads across Mia's face.
Vivian and I have been talking a lot lately about Siobhan. Even though she knows Siobhan so well, she is still unsure of herself. Shibby has no idea how lucky she is to have found this woman.
Her mischievous smile fades as she reads the message.
From Vivian:
You actually encouraged this?! Do you realize how dangerous it is? We need to talk NOW.Mia's brows knit together as she rereads the text, her mind racing. She barely notices Charlotte entering the room, but her girlfriend's voice eventually pulls her back. "Amelia Mae!" Charlotte's tone has a mix of playfulness and concern. The green eyed woman shakes her head and mumbles, "Yeah. Baby, sorry. What were you saying?"
Char's face fills with concern and softly asks, "Mia, are you okay? Did something happen?" Mia forces a smile as she kisses Charlotte, her mind still on Vivian's text. "I'm fine, baby," she says, trying to sound light. "What do you want for dinner?"
"I could go for some Chinese food!" Charlotte says with her eyes lighting up. "Sounds perfect," Mia says with a smile, already reaching for her phone. "I'll call it in real quick."
Mia quickly calls in the order then opens Vivian's message again. Mia stares at the message, her fingers hovering over the keyboard. She types, erases, then types again, unsure how to respond.
What does she mean by "dangerous"? Did I miss something? I should probably avoid sarcasm—Vivian seems angry. But how can I explain myself if I don't even know what she's talking about?
To Vivian:
Viv, I'm confused. I'm going to need more information...Mia puts her phone in her back pocket and goes back inside. Her mind is racing trying to think what Vivian is talking about. She sits on the sofa pulling Char in to cuddle. Next, they have to decide on a movie to watch.
As her girlfriend flips through the options on the TV screen, Mia can barely focus. "Tonight is all about you, Char," Mia says, her voice soft. She smiles as Charlotte nods enthusiastically, but her thoughts remain elsewhere, replaying Vivian's cryptic message.
Across town, Vivian is wrestling with the same struggle as Mia. She's trying to enjoy a quiet evening with Siobhan, but her thoughts keep drifting back to the plan—and the potential consequences. As Siobhan browses for a movie to help her relax before bed, Vivian's phone lights up.
From Mia:
Viv, I'm confused. I'm going to need more information...Vivian rolls her eyes, frustration bubbling up. Geez, what other dangerous things has she encouraged my Bon to do? Her fingers fly across the keyboard as she types her response. Her breathing quickens, hands trembling as anger heats her face.
To Mia:
Siobhan's plan... Roger... Bennie???How could Mia not see how reckless this was? And why hadn't she stepped in sooner? What if— Vivian shakes her head, cutting off the thought before it spirals further.
Her phone buzzes again, but before she can check it, Siobhan's voice breaks through her turmoil.
"Okay, Viv. Don't laugh, but I decided on The Little Mermaid."
Vivian's anger dissolves at the sound of Siobhan's shy admission. She looks up, her lips curving into a smile. "You're impossible," she murmurs, reaching out to pull Siobhan onto the sofa. Wrapping her arms around Siobhan's waist, she leans forward, pressing kisses along her cheek and neck.
"You... are... so... adorable," Vivian whispers, her words punctuated by kisses. Siobhan giggles, her laughter breaking through the tension in Vivian's chest. For a moment, all that mattered was the woman in her arms.
The two had snuggled under a blanket, content in each other's arms. Vivian lay behind Siobhan, her arm draped around her waist. Siobhan rested her arm over Vivian's, their fingers interlaced.
On the screen, Ariel showed Scuttle her treasures, the flickering light casting shadows that danced across their faces. Vivian began quoting the scene word for word, her voice playful and light. Siobhan slowly turned to look at her, a soft smile spreading across her lips.
"You're impossible," Siobhan whispered, leaning up slightly to kiss her.
I think Viv and I have the same comfort movies... That just warmed my heart. It's like she knows the parts of me I'm too shy to show. I'm not really sure why, but it's made me even more attracted to her. More... connected.
Vivian smiles against Siobhan's lips, her mind briefly at peace. But the sudden light from her phone pulls her back to reality. She glances down, her jaw tightening as she reads Mia's reply.
From Mia:
Viv, I swear, I didn't encourage this. I told her it was a bad idea! She never brought it up again, so I thought she dropped it. But if she's talking about it now, she's definitely serious. What do you need me to do?Vivian's chest tightened. She glanced at Siobhan, whose attention was still on the screen, her face lit with a childlike joy.
If Siobhan really is planning this, I can't let her go through with it. I can't risk losing her.
Vivian sighed, her fingers tightening slightly around Siobhan's. "Everything okay?" Siobhan asked, glancing back at her.
Vivian forced a smile, brushing her lips against Siobhan's cheek. "Of course, Bon. Let's just enjoy the movie."
But her mind was already elsewhere, turning over every possibility, every danger, and every step she needed to take.
