They arrived at the nursery and Ciara froze next to the car. Her eyes widened as she lifted her head scanning the huge building. "This is the nursery?"
Siobhan finished parking next to Vivian and stepped out of the driver's seat. A tiny bit of concern was in her voice, "Everything okay, Ciara?" The little girl nodded, "It's just a really big building." The blonde looked at Vivian before she huffed in relief, "You are right, Ciara. It's pretty big."
She knelt down on one knee to Ciara's level resting her arm on her other knee. "There are a lot of people that work here too. If it gets too much, just let me know." Siobhan knew that most of the staff would want to meet Ciara, but she also understood that it could be overwhelming for her.
Vivian watched on as Siobhan took Ciara's and Jamie's hand and headed off to the front door of the nursery. Siobhan used to be shy about dropping Jamie off and would only walk in with Vivian by her side. Now she confidently entered the building with two children as Vivian followed behind. The brunette couldn't help the smile that consumed her face.
As they entered, Marjorie met them in the hallway. She had been watching the cameras waiting for them to arrive.
"Good morning, my loves!" The chipperness in her voice made Siobhan roll her eyes. "Morning, Marjorie. This is Ciara." The brown eyed girl shifted closer to Siobhan bringing her hands up to cover her face. Marjorie leaned down, "Hey, sweet girl. It's good to have you with us today. You and Jamie are going to be in the same group." Ciara smiled softly as she looked at Jamie.
Jamie took Ciara's hand, "Our room is this way." As he led her down the hall, Marjorie stood folding her arms across her chest, "Definitely can tell who he belongs to..." Vivian, who was standing behind Siobhan, chuckled, "I better catch up to them so I can do handover with Charlotte." The blonde looks at her wife with all the adoration in the world as she watches her walk past and towards the pre-school room.
Charlotte had been informed that Siobhan and Vivian received a placement last night. As Jamie walked in with his head held high, she giggled softly. "Good morning, Jamie. Who do you have with you this morning?" His face lit up bright, "This is Ciara. She is going to be living with us for a little while."
Vivian stopped at the door for a moment witnessing the sense of responsibility Jamie had for Ciara. She was so proud of how her sweet boy just embraced this new journey. The worries that bombarded her mind about how this would affect him eased.
She stepped forward joining Jamie and Ciara who were standing in front of Charlotte. "Morning, Char. I see Jamie has already made introductions." Charlotte smiled, "He sure has. And did a fabulous job too." Jamie smiled as his face flushed red. Through a tiny giggle he said, "I did, didn't I?" Charlotte smiled and nodded at the proud boy.
"Well, Char. They both had breakfast this morning, but you know how Jamie's appetite has been." Now that Jamie is no longer taking chemotherapy, his appetite has become much better.
Ciara tugged gently at Vivian's trousers. She knelt down and Ciara leaned close to whisper in her ear. "We're allowed to eat breakfast here too?" Vivian placed her arm around Ciara's waist. "Of course, sweetie." The brunette looked back up at Charlotte, "I think they both would probably enjoy eating breakfast here too."
Jamie turned to Ciara, "Come on. We get to make it ourselves! I can show you if you don't know how." Charlotte lifted her hand to her chest as she made a mock pouty face. "Vivian, he is absolutely adorable! You've done such a great job raising him."
While Vivian was completing the handover with Charlotte, Siobhan was filling out what paperwork she could about Ciara. They hadn't received much information from the caseworker so it was difficult to complete it all.
