Siobhan completed her tasks in the office with ease, but a twinge of unease plagued her— something wasn't right. She had that weird feeling like she was being watched. Then a tingling sensation ran down her spine as she heard a soft familiar voice.
"Hello, Siobhan." Janice said with a smirk. "There are some people here to see you."
The blonde turned around to the sight of Janice standing in front of three officers and detective Piscopo. Janice's eyes sparkled with amusement. Her hair was perfectly curled and her arms folded over her chest with deliberate poise— as if she had been waiting for this moment.
She nodded towards detective Piscopo and continued to talk with an amused tone. "They asked to speak to you in the meeting room."
Marjorie witnessed the interaction and couldn't decide whether to intervene or just notify Vivian. Even though Siobhan was her "boss", she felt a certain responsibility to speak up for her.
While Siobhan stood in silence weighing her limited options, Majorie quickly typed an SOS text.
To Viv:
SOS... Piscopo... nursery
The nursery manager had just enough time to send the message before Siobhan hesitantly followed the officers into the meeting room. As Marjorie rushed towards the door to follow, Janice attempted to block her.
Marjorie's eyes seemed to burn a hole right through Janice. The taller woman's confidence faltered as Marjorie pushed past her. The brunette stood there shocked at the willingness Marjorie had to protect Siobhan.
At this point, Marjorie was flaming with anger. Her demeanor was cold and quiet. Siobhan wasn't even sure what the woman was thinking. She knew that Marjorie cared for her, but this nursery meant everything to her. All the involvement of law enforcement on the grounds had started to become a topic around town.
Two officers stood behind Siobhan, one on each side. Their goal seemed to be intimidation. Detective Piscopo sat across from Siobhan and Marjorie. The third officer stood blocking the door. His arms extended and fixed with his hand crossed in front of him.
It didn't take long before Piscopo began his line of questioning.
"How did you come to be involved with Roger Knight?" His voice attempted to hide his preconceived thoughts.
Siobhan sat in silence. She looked down at her wedding ring as she reached with her other hand twisting it with her fingers. She could feel all eyes on her including Marjorie's.
After several moments of no response he asked another question. "When did you discover that Roger was involved with the Cartel?"
The blonde shifted in her chair slightly. She smoothed her hands over her skirt before folding her arms over her chest. One hand broke away to hold tightly to the locket around her neck.
I wish Viv was here. I know not to say anything, but this is making me feel so uncomfortable. I never told Viv and Shadow about the women I saw at the police station— so much has happened. Now I'm absolutely certain it was Janice— maybe that will be useful to Shadow.
Piscopo sighed aggressively, getting frustrated with Siobhan's refusal to speak. "Did you go on drug runs with Roger? You seem to have a history of drug abuse. I have seen your records..."
Siobhan could feel Marjorie's gaze even heavier on her. She wouldn't look up at her fearing to see disappointment in her eyes. In truth, Marjorie was rooting for Siobhan to remain strong and quiet. She was quite protective of her friend— now considered as family. Even if Siobhan had a difficult time believing it at times. The blonde had changed so much, but doubts about how much she was cared for still lingered.
