Chapter 24: That was Hot

The results from Mia's scan did show that she suffered a PE. The medicine was working, breaking up the clot and her lung began to inflate properly. She would need to be under close observation due to the blood thinner she was given, but she was going to be fine.

The doctor quickly exited towards the waiting room to find Charlotte once again. This time when their eyes met the doctor had a smile on his face and his eyes were filled with relief. "Charlotte... Mia is going to be fine. The treatment is working perfectly and her lung inflated properly. We will have to watch closely because the medicine we had to give her for the PE can cause her to bleed, but the effects should wear off in the next few hours."

I'm so grateful that she is okay. I thought I was going to lose her... this doctor has made all the right calls to make sure my baby stays alive... words aren't enough to thank him.

Before Charlotte even registered what she was doing, she wrapped her arms around the doctor squeezing him tightly. He chuckled and his eyes widened at the unexpected strength from the small woman. As the friend group watched it all unfold, they all erupted in laughter at Charlotte's actions. "Charlotte, don't hurt the poor man," Marjorie teases.

Aw, Charlotte is so happy! Tonight has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but the outcome seems to be the best it could have been...

"Thank you so much! Can I go see her?" The doctor shaking his head, "of course... I'll walk you back." Charlotte looked back at her friends with a dopey grin they had come accustomed to seeing. Autumn softly snickered at the sweet woman, knowing exactly what she was feeling. Marjorie waved as Charlotte disappeared through the doors.

That's the same dopey grin I have when I see or even think about Winter. I couldn't imagine going through what Charlotte has gone through tonight. The fear of losing the love of your life...

At this point, the sun was coming up, the nursery would be opening soon. Marjorie sprung up from her seat as Reece, knowing what his woman was thinking, stood placing his hand softly on her back, "Marjorie. Autumn, Winter and I will go and handle the nursery. You can stay."

Before leaving, Reece and Autumn would like to see that Siobhan and Mia are okay for themselves. They approach the front counter asking to be able to go back to see Amelia Roberts. Recognizing they had been in the waiting room all night the receptionist allowed them back. "She is in room 145."

As they quietly enter the room, Mia and Charlotte are oblivious while they are in their own world staring into each other's eyes. They lean into other to kiss as they hear, "Oh, that's gross!" while Reece dramatically turns away. Marjorie shakes her head at her handsome blonde and Autumn smirks while rolling her eyes. "I would have to agree with you big brother."

Charlotte and Mia both narrow their eyes and look at the crew standing at the door. The manager looks empathetic towards the women, "Hey my loves! These three are about to head to the nursery to run it for the day. I'm going to stay to support you all. These two, even if they won't say it to you themselves, wanted to see that you were okay before they left." "Aw, Reecey, you were worried about me?" Charlotte cut her eyes at Mia, "Amelia!" The red heads eyes widened as she smirked.

It's so hot when she gets that tone with me. I know she is trying to reprimand me, but it just sends shivers down my spine. I love this woman.

"Are y'all going to see Siobhan too before you go?" Asked the redhead.

I really need to know she is okay! I need to warn her about the cartel getting involved. Things can get really dangerous... for all of us...

She hits the call button to see if her nurse will let her go with them to see her friend. "As long as one of them pushes you in a wheelchair. Also, you don't need to be gone too long. We still need to monitor you closely. Mia rolls her eyes at the thought of having to be pushed around in a wheelchair when she is perfectly capable of walking. "Baby, you know it's hospital policy."
