Chapter 118: Imperial Council

〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜

The 103rd President of Lemuria, Ligliese Al Ludegnez, was far too lacking in ambition and utterly generic to stand at the nation's helm. While he did not govern poorly, he also achieved no significant accomplishments.

His approval rating among the populace was by no means low. However, his reputation among the military's upper echelons, the Senate, and national assembly members was abysmal. Many proposals for the nation's advancement emerged in meetings, but he approved almost none, instead shelving or rejecting most of them. The nation had the capability and resources to turn the impossible into reality. Yet, he never fully leveraged them.

Indecisive. Coward... That's what they called him behind his back.

But he is no longer among the living.

The heart disease he had been suffering from worsened, and despite treatment efforts, he passed away a year ago.

A state funeral was held for him. Even if he had been labeled a coward, the fact remained that he had led the nation. A grand state funeral lasted an entire week, during which all citizens mourned. Family members wept before his coffin.

Yet, among them, there were a few who shed no tears.

One of those was his second son, Barclid Enra Ludegnez. Quietly, deep within his heart, he murmured as he placed a white flower in the coffin.

'Father... I will take your place and lead this nation to even greater heights. This, I swear.'

The coffin lid was closed. He watched from afar as his father was carried away in the black funeral car.

The final moments of the father he murdered by his own hands.

A year had passed since the events in the Land of Owari.

The strongest and largest nation in the Second World had undergone a significant transformation.

Now referred to as the Second Lemurian Empire, the country transitioned from a republic to an imperial regime. Its capital, Tir-La-Noog, was referred to as the "Holy City." Alongside this, numerous reforms were implemented in both political and military spheres. Yet, for the people, daily life continued as usual.

This was all due to the tireless efforts of Barclid Enra Ludegnez, the first emperor of the Second Empire. Over many years, he meticulously laid the groundwork for national reforms through every conceivable channel and secured widespread support. His reforms prioritized national development and prosperity, alongside improvements to citizens' living conditions, employment rates, public welfare facilities, and infrastructure. This earned him overwhelming approval from the populace.

As a result, despite the dramatic internal changes within the Lemurian Empire, the transition occurred with minimal disruption.
