Thank you for waiting. This is the last post of the year!

Post-war processing is really difficult, so it took quite a bit of time 🙇

Flashback

Halidom of Alfheim

The day before the invasion of Alfheim by the Empire, a certain elf from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was walking along a dark forest path, blowing on a pipegrass.

"Phew... I never imagined that the Empire would actually attempt an invasion of the Kingdom of Eir. What's happening to the balance of this world?"

He voiced his anxiety about the great wars that had begun to erupt worldwide in such a short time, sitting down against a large tree. He took a deep puff from his pipegrass.

"Hmm... huh... hm? Ah, I didn't realize I had come this far into the dark elf's forest borders..."

After finishing his work, he often came to this less-traveled area to smoke. But today, perhaps due to his worries, he found himself at the edge of the Black Forest, a place he rarely visited even under normal circumstances.

The edge of the Black Forest marked the boundary between the high elf and dark elf territories, with a shabby, long fence running along it. The dark elves, on the other hand, called it the "edge of the White Forest." The two races, who detested even making eye contact, rarely came near this border unless it was for brief patrols several times a day.

"This is bad... but, well, they hardly ever come over here, so I guess it's fine."

Deciding to enjoy the view of the Black Forest for a bit before heading home, he slowly started walking along the fence.

'How unsettling. It used to be a pure and beautiful forest, but after they came, taking our forest from us, it turned into this... huh? I hear something...'

He soon began to hear voices from somewhere.

"Are you sure this is enough to contact them? Shouldn't we use a manacomm stone instead?"

"Well, that might be more convenient for you, but the manacomm stone can only be used by those with magical abilities. For the human race, it's limited in use."

"Is that so... Truly, the humans are so troublesome. Still, I suppose it's convenient in that it doesn't waste magic power. Some of the major countries even have magical devices that can detect magic, I hear."

He noticed multiple dark elves and a few hooded figures talking in the shadow of a tree on the Black Forest border. He couldn't make out the conversation from a distance, so he crouched down, trying to approach stealthily and eavesdrop.

'What's going on? What are the dark elves talking about? Who are those hooded figures?'

He quietly got closer to where he could hear the conversation more clearly. He hid behind a large tree, listening intently.

"...Well, this is how you use the communication device. Got it?"

"Ah, yeah... I understand. But the principle behind it is unclear. To think you can make such a mysterious thing without magic ore... I'm impressed by your country's technological prowess and high civilization. I'd love to visit Japan someday."

"When the time comes, I'll personally guide you to Japan."

"Heh, I'll try not to get my hopes up."

The hooded figure speaking with the dark elves was definitely from the country of Japan.
