Commander Copp stood aghast, staring at the sinking secondary flagships Egos and Mueller. It wasn't just him; the marines and crew members aboard other warships around him also watched in shock as the newest and most advanced warships of their nation sank, engulfed in black smoke.
"What... what did they do? What is that thing!?"
Copp struggled to comprehend the situation, but the shock was too overwhelming for his mind to process. Then—
"The enemy ship has fired that flaming spear again! This time, there are two more than before!"
The SSM-1B missiles were launched again from the destroyer Asahi—this time, four missiles simultaneously roared from their launch tubes.
"Huh—!? Prepare for countermeasures immediately!"
The marines scrambled to operate the anti-aircraft autocannons, but the SSM-1Bs were already skimming just above the horizon, heading straight toward them.
"Fire! Shoot now! Fire, fire!!!"
Following their officer's orders, the gunners hastily aimed the autocannons and opened fire.

But there was no way they could hit the incoming SSM-1Bs traveling at a speed of 850 km/h. The rounds missed their mark and splashed harmlessly into the sea, raising only water columns.
"Ugh—AAAAAHHH!!!"
With Copp's dying scream, the SSM-1Bs struck their target. A massive explosion enveloped the flagship Monoceros, blasting it into smithereens.
Simultaneously, the secondary flagship Agga also fell victim to the SSM-1Bs, breaking apart and sinking into the depths. The swift destruction of the Monoceros threw the vanguard detachment into chaos. Now, only the secondary flagship Rogei remained operational.
The Rogei's captain, Nathanael Kracht, noticed something peculiar about the Japanese warship Asahi's attack.
"Could it be... that the Japanese are targeting our flagship and secondary flagships? That destructive power, that range... and the precision! Are they monsters!? If that's the case, then next will be—!"

At Nathanael's command, the marines hurriedly leaped overboard, each trying to save themselves. Those who carried weapons and ammunition sank to the depths, unable to stay afloat.
The moment all personnel had evacuated the Rogei, another SSM-1B missile struck. A blinding flash followed by a massive explosion tore through the vessel, reducing it to fragments that sank to the ocean floor. Nathanael, who had barely escaped by jumping into the sea, held his breath as he watched the scene unfold. Just a second's delay, and he and his crew would have shared the ship's fate.
