JGSDF Rear-Guard Encampment, 3rd Trench Line
In the field tent where the strategy meeting was being held, senior JSDF officers and Sahenantian commanders were having a discussion across a table.
The topic was a CFW airborne assault operation aimed at reclaiming Randalucia and Olm, which were currently occupied by the enemy. In the center of the room, a holographic display showed the entire eastern area beyond Harlow. The cities of Randalucia, Olm, and Eze were blinking in red.
Colonel Sawayama of the Ground Self-Defense Force began his explanations to the senior officers and commanders from both Japan and Sahenantis who were present.
"The surprise attack operation on Randalucia and Olm commenced as scheduled at 0700 hours today. An airborne assault with 3.000 CFWs was conducted at each location."
Although the Sahenantian commanders felt some unease about the idea of dropping soldiers from above, they continued to listen quietly, without interrupting.
"Overall, the surprise attack itself was successful. As planned, we began mop-up and suppression operations. At 1342 hours the same day, reports from command units deployed in Randalucia and Olm confirmed the 'completion of city-wide control.'"
The news that the enemy forces occupying Randalucia and Olm had been suppressed—meaning the cities were retaken—was met with jubilant cheers from the Sahenantian military commanders.
"Oooh!!"
"An ultimate victory!!"
"Hahaha! We did it!!"
After the cheers subsided, Sawayama continued his briefing.
"From both cities, we were able to rescue 5.000 civilians and Sahenantian soldiers who had been captured. The occupying Lemurians, totaling 3.600, surrendered after laying down their arms."
"Wait, wait...!"
One of the Sahenantian commanders interrupted in shock.
"Are you sure you're not wrong!? Did you say five thousand...!? For the TWO cities...!?"
Other commanders seemed to share the same sentiment, and the atmosphere turned tense. Sawayama understood their concerns, but the report from the CFW was accurate.
"There is no mistake. Additionally, many dead bodies were found abandoned in a disorganized manner. When we questioned the captured Lemurian commanders, we were told that they had planned to incinerate the bodies later."
"What...!?"
"This is savagery..."
"Those wretched Lemurians!! We must avenge this grievance and regret!!"
As the Sahenantian commanders were overcome with rage, Sawayama, understanding their emotions, stopped the hologram and moved on to the next topic, showing the real-time battlefield footage from the Yatagarasu drone on numerous monitors for everyone to see.
The commanders from Sahenantis, as well as Sawayama and the other senior officers, watched solemnly.
"The enemy forces have disintegrated to nearly 100.000. The 70.000 enemy troops who have retreated have shown no sign of turning back to the 1st Trench Line."
Despite the enemy still possessing a large number, the CFWs continue to launch attacks on the advancing enemy soldiers. However, the possibility remained that the enemy could push forward to the 1st Trench Line. While air raids by the aerial units were ongoing, the enemy's number of 100.000 should not be underestimated. At worst, some of the enemy soldiers might break through the 1st Trench Line and even advance to the 2nd Trench Line.
