Various places on board the Varngorst

The 3rd Corridor was breached, and the hangar was seized and used as a foothold by the enemy forces. The two JGSDF Armored Drone Companies advanced with the momentum of a spreading fire.

"Y-you bastards!"

"Take this!"

They systematically defeated the Lemurian soldiers they encountered, thoroughly inspecting one room after another in the expansive interior of the ship. Before long, the sound of gunfire and explosions from both sides reverberated throughout nearly the entire ship.

"Graah!?"

Several WALKERs moving in small groups through the narrow, twisted corridors, dispatched enemy soldiers they had the misfortune of encountering moments earlier. Though the structure was convoluted, the WALKERs, with their advanced learning capabilities, took little time to understand the interior layout. Information about secured rooms was immediately relayed to all the WALKERs participating in the operation.

"Over there!"

At the end of the corridor, a Lemurian soldier who had been hiding at the corner revealed half his body and pulled the trigger of his automatic rifle.

RATATATATATATATATATATA! CLANG, CLANG, CLANG!

Although several shots hit the WALKER in the lead, they merely grazed the armor, inflicting negligible damage.

Being shot posed no problem. Lacking the biological concept of death, they could proceed with the operation smoothly.

The WALKER immediately returned fire at the Lemurian soldier, shooting him in the face and forehead, killing him instantly.

"Target confirmed dead..."

As the WALKER confirmed the death of the now-gutted Lemurian soldier, something metallic rolled toward them with a clink. Realizing it was a grenade, the WALKER promptly instructed the following units to retreat. Moments later, the grenade exploded. Although the explosion and shockwave threw the WALKER back slightly, their functionality remained largely intact.

However, their M4 carbine was rendered useless, so they drew a 9 mm handgun from the holster on their right leg.

"...Target lost."

They quickly scanned the end of the corridor but failed to locate the soldier who had thrown the grenade.

"Dammit! Even grenades don't seem to work! What the hell are those things!?"

"Their armor... or whatever you call it. That emblem on them, isn't that the symbol of Japan?"

"So, they're Japanese!?"

"The Japanese military uses automatons!?"

A group of panicked Lemurian soldiers fled down the corridor, heading toward the heavily fortified section of the ship. Other soldiers were likely heading there too, including their severely wounded captain, Nathreth. But on their way, they unfortunately ran into enemy forces.

One soldier volunteered to act as a decoy, firing at the enemy, but he was shot in the head before he could even act. Although they managed to escape by using grenades, they were now barely holding on. They had seen countless comrades' corpses along the way, yet frustratingly, there wasn't a single enemy body. Were those things even human? Were they something else entirely? They couldn't be sure.
