Since there's nothing particularly to do during self-restraint, I am currently taking action to revive the overgrown field.

Japanese Embassy Reception Room, Land of Owari Castle Town, Second World

It was half a day before Valkia and Sahenantis were struck by a blitzkrieg invasion by the Lemurian Empire and the Covenant's military.

Among the few countries in the Second World that have formal diplomatic relations with Japan is the Land of Owari. Within its capital city, in a place not quite fitting of its surroundings, stood a solid concrete six-story building, the Japanese Embassy in the Land of Owari. Inside, five members of a certain country's delegation waited, sitting in chairs placed around a beautifully crafted table in the reception room on the top floor.

This delegation, a group from the Lemurian Empire, sat quietly and awaited their turn. To be more precise, they were a diplomatic mission sent from the Bureau of Military Diplomacy within the Covenant. The leader of this delegation, and a staff member from the Covenant's Bureau of Foreign Affairs, Daitz Og Luderian, moved his eyes and observed the room.

'An exquisitely crafted building that rivals our own national landmarks. I've heard that Japan has diplomatic ties with the dwarves skilled in architecture, forging, and mining. However, if these structures were built without relying on dwarves but through their own strength, that would be an impressive feat. Could this be as Lady Slaudra's reports indicated?'

Luderian felt admiration, but at the same time, his caution grew stronger as he observed the building's construction. Unlike the grand castles and cathedrals built in other countries, this was modest, yet splendid in its own right. His gaze shifted to the two security WALKERs standing motionless by the door.

'Automatons... I got to get them no matter what.'

From the moment he had seen the WALKERs, a cold sweat had begun to form on his back. These automaton soldiers, devoid of souls and minds, would be a nightmare if they were armed and led in an unending army. It was unclear just how powerful these mechanical soldiers were, so it remained pure speculation. However, if they had the capabilities Luderian suspected, they could be far too dangerous.

'At worst... the army could be completely wiped out.'

If it were still the Lemurian Empire or the Covenant's military from a while ago, Luderian would have had complete confidence that victory was certain. But now, the Empire and the Covenant were under the command of incompetent nobles who had risen to high ranks. Why was the wise Emperor Ludegnez allowing such an outrageous situation? It was something Luderian wondered every day.

The only comfort was that there were still some capable officers, and the great heroes such as Bamir, Slaudra, and Tsarda were still actively working. Another comforting thought was the explosive recent development in magical science and technology. At the very least, defeat was impossible in terms of military action. This meant that the worst-case scenario was unlikely to occur.

'In the end, what we are truly concerned about is the aftermath of the Crusade. If the incompetent nobles interfere in governance with their violent, overbearing rule, it will be impossible to control the situation. It is always the middle management and the lower ranks who end up suffering.'

To prevent such a situation, this meeting with Japan, which may very well be the last, must not be the final one. If possible, he hoped for a smooth resolution.
